The Vocal Rx

My name is Annette B. and I have more than 40 years of experience and training as a vocal performer and musician. My teaching methodologies are focused on the development of the voice through the application of proper technique with a primary emphasis on vocal health education, prevention of vocal degeneration, and prevention of permanent vocal damage. I teach private and group lessons to students locally. Through the magic of technology, I teach private lessons online to students in Orange County, South Carolina, Norway and France. My studio is called The Vocal Rx and was previous known as Redlands Vocal Academy and Redlands Vocal and Performing Arts Academy in Redlands, California for 11 years. Through my studios I have: • taught more than 17,000 private voice lessons • produced 13 musical theater productions • provided group vocal training to church choirs • assisted ESL business professionals in accent reduction, pronunciation, articulation, and proper usage of the English language to enhance their careers • assisted students in the fundamentals of the development, preparation, and delivery of speeches • worked with Loma Linda University professors to improve the use of their voices and to rehabilitate vocal degeneration experienced from constant overuse, increasing their longevity in their chosen professions • successfully rehabilitated many voices that had been misused and damaged, some to the point of total voice loss • developed group singing classes to deliver basic fundamentals and healthy vocal practices to a larger number of students at reduced fees • produced twice yearly student recitals and productions performed for the hospitalized veterans at the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial VA Medical Center in Loma Linda, California • created and personally helped fund a 501c3 non-profit organization to scholarship children of financially challenged families in music, vocal lessons, and musical theater productions I have assisted a multitude of students in developing their voices who have: • written and performed a song named 2014 Song of the Year in Norway and reaching #1 in Switzerland, #2 in Italy, and #6 in Germany and the artist was signed to a top German record label in 2014 • performed at events in Los Angeles along side top recording artists • won local and state competitions and gone on to compete at national competitions • won competitions for college scholarships • performed in lead roles in local theatrical and high school theater productions • received award recognition at the Los Angeles Music Awards • were accepted for admission to the Idyllwild Arts Academy • were accepted for admission to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in Los Angeles • were accepted for admission to UCLA performance workshops • competed in the Spotlight Awards through the Music Center in Los Angeles and later attended Music Center performance workshops • pursued professional careers as vocalists working with songwriters and producers • published original songs available on iTunes
