Harpist Annette B. offers private Harp Lessons and Workshops in various styles of music, beginners through advanced, youngsters through adults. Lesson duration from 30 minutes to 1 hour. Weekly lessons recommended. (Less frequently possible. More as well :) Cost depending on length, frequency and location. The harp studio is located in Evanston. Private harp lessons and ensemble classes are also available in the Chicago area and Northshore, Glenview, Skokie, Wilmette, Winnetka, and via online video meetings worldwide and (almost) around the clock. Annette is an experienced teacher of both lever and pedal harp in various styles of music (classical, world music, jazz, pop), improvisation, basics of music, music reading and writing, history and theory. Also offered are Bi-monthly Harp Circles - gatherings of harp students and friends - and annual public Harp Class Recitals. Rental harps available in the Chicago area, for students who don't want to purchase an own instrument yet. Annette's thoughts about teaching: I like teaching a lot, and I like to share musical experiences with others. • My teaching style combines oral traditions (lots of listening) and classical techniques. • Improvisation and interpretation is important for me as well. • Music theory is a part of my teaching: especially harp students need to know about chords and rhythms. • Students might choose or specify a preferred teaching method - or get introduced to 'everything'. • I am open to all music styles. Besides classical music, I specialize in klezmer and other East European traditional music. • I am offering workshops for groups/ for special themes (like Jewish music) in and outside Chicago. *** Lesson Details *** Lessons consist of warm-up and technique exercises, repertoire (reviewing practiced material and learning new pieces), as well as corresponding historical and music-theoretical information - as needed or wished. The repertoire is partially chosen by me depending on the students capabilities and needs, and also chosen by the student's own wishes and input. Regarding technique and style I'm flexible and react to the student's needs. My main purpose is encouraging the enjoyment and exploration of music, preventing bad-habits and injuries, and helping a progress in harp-capabilities. by the way: all of the above also applies for recorder lessons. *** Studio Equipment *** Various lever harps of various sizes are always available in the studio.
