Lesson Details

I begin by teaching the basics for good vocal care. I then guide the student through simple but powerful exercises that will help strengthen their voices. Lessons are then tailored to the student's level and goals. I believe that discipline is vital to progress and so I will encourage consistent and regular practice. However, I especially encourage my students to come ready to have fun while learning!

About

Originally from New York City, music has always been one of my passions and I was hooked from the moment I had my first piano lesson at 7 years of age. I went on to study with excellent teachers which included a scholarship to the Greenwich School of Music in Greenwich Village. During those years I also met my first drama teacher, Gertrud Schattner, a Viennese actress who was one of the founding members of the National Association of Drama Therapy in the United States. She instilled in me a ... love for musical theatre and prepared me to audition for the High School of Performing Arts, which was portrayed accurately in the original movie "Fame" (1980). I received a rigorous and thorough training there in theatre, voice, and movement and have since gone on to perform and to give instruction in acting and singing.

For the past eleven years I have been the Creative Arts and Choir Director at New Beginning Church, as well as a praise and worship leader with the band. During these years I have taught and directed youth and adults in musical plays, choral and solo singing. My goal is always to help bring out the best in their voices and performances.

I especially enjoy coaching students who are preparing to audition for entrance into performing arts schools, theatrical roles, or talent scout searches. I believe that anyone who is properly trained will be amazed at how beautiful their voices can become. It gives me a great deal of joy and satisfaction to see students expand and improve their vocal and performance abilities beyond what they thought possible.
