    About Andres F G.

Felipe Gómez has collaborated with choreographers, visual artists, and theater directors: "Imagenes Sobre el Tiempo", 2004 (music-dance piece), The Axolotl, 2005 (animation film based on a short story), "Yerma", 2004 (commissioned by the Lewis & Clark College Theater Department). Mr. Gómez won the first prize in Composition for the Kriz Getz Award Competition at San Francisco Conservatory of music (2008) where he completed the Masters in Music Composition. Currently, he continues writing and performing music with Triple Point Trio among other projects. Philosophy I encourage students to pursue their musical interests as much as possible. I find that students progress much faster when they follow their heart and play the music that they like. I love teaching different kinds of music such as Pop and Rock, Blues, Jazz, Latin, Classical, Flamenco. Methodology I envision for my students to gain a well rounded musical knowledge so that they have the tools to pursue any style of music either professionally or for their own enjoyment. This is why I teach music focusing on four aspects: technique, music reading, harmony and improvisation. I try to tailor this four aspects to people's abilities and interests. Teaching Experience I have taught privately for 8 years to students of different levels of skill, ages, and backgrounds. Furthermore I have experience teaching a Jazz workshop at Odyssey Middle School, conducting Jam Sessions at Heriz Music in Burlingame, developing and teaching the musical program for a non-profit organization for individuals with developmental disabilities in San Rafael.
