My name is Amy and I teach Voice, Piano, and Music Theory! I am originally from Racine/Milwaukee, WI and have been a musician since I was young. I believe music is a universal language that connects us all on a deeper level. There is something so pure, beautiful, and genuine in music. It has the capability to move us to tears, feel empowered, or even break out in laughter. Sharing and connecting with others is what music is all about. I have loved music my entire life and enjoy bringing my passion and expertise to my students! *** Lesson Details *** Taking lessons is a fun and exciting experience! However, learning to play an instrument (or sing) is not easy. It takes practice, focus, dedication, and hard work. We set up a plan at the beginning of lessons to ensure success! Lessons are flexible, yet focused. It is important to set a routine and consistently stick to it if you want to see results. While I understand that we all have busy weeks, I do believe that consistent practice is essential to success. Lessons are geared towards you as the student. We set up our lessons based on your musical goals. Voice Lessons: We begin here by focusing on building healthy singing habits, skill building, technique, range expansion, performing skills, diction, and expression. This is usually done from studying musical theater music. With musical theater, we get all the formal "classical rules" with a modern twist. From there we focus on the specialty each student is interested in - whether you want to audition for American Idol, prepare to major in voice in college, or be a Broadway star, we will focus on meeting your goals! *Within 6 months you will see range expansion, improved accuracy & control, increase in breath control & capacity, as well as improved performance and expression skills! **Musical theater book/cd purchase is required (discussed at first lesson). Students also need a notebook and pencil! Piano Lessons: Studying classical piano will give you the tools and foundation that you need to pursue any other genre of music! Students will learn how to read and write music, hand position/posture, phrasing, texture, hand coordination & strength, discipline, music terms, dynamics, speed & accuracy, ear training, and much more through interactive lessons and games! Students will also learn a variety of music genres (including classical, jazz, musical theater, music in movies, rock and roll, and folk songs!). *The level of success you see with piano is directly related to how much you practice. If you practice on a consistent basis, you will be reading music in both clefs (treble & bass) and playing both hands together within 6 months. **Alfred Piano Lesson book, Theory book, and Technic book are used. (purchase required). Students will also need a notebook and pencil. NOTES: *Lessons are varied. You will learn all needed skills, but we will use various methods including worksheets, games, rhythm instruments, etc. *** Studio Equipment *** A piano keyboard is provided. Students are expected to bring their notebook, pencil, and method book(s) that we have been working out of. *** Travel Equipment *** I have all supplemental things needed for lessons (worksheets, rhythm instruments, etc). I expect students to have the book(s) we are working out of, a metronome (or app), and the instrument needed (piano/keyboard). *** Specialties *** I usually use Alfred piano method books for piano. For other instruments/subjects I focus on gearing lessons toward the student.

Amy is wonderful! I've been with Amy for just over a year now, having "0" experience in the beginning. I'm so glad that I found her. Amy is a great teacher. She's professional, talented and experienced, patient, flexible and super easy-going. As a beginner, playing the piano can be challenging and frustrating. Amy is encouraging, even when I think I'm doing poorly. She identifies difficulties and explains/demonstrates helpful corrections. I have learned a lot in my first year and I highly recommend her as a teacher. Thank you, Amy!!

My kids love Amy! My daughters are currently taking lessons with Amy to learn to play piano. They are really enjoying themselves and have learned so much already. Amy is very professional to work with and has a great method of teaching. She leaves specific instructions for what to work on every week. We are very happy to have found such a great source for music instruction!

Best Music Teacher Ever! I have grown so much musically because of what I've learned from Miss Amy. She has taught me so much about my voice and being confident on stage, I even got a solo this year at school! I have learned a lot about diction, expanding my range, making a clear sound, and each class is so much fun!
