Trumpet with Amanda W.

Amanda W is currently a candidate for a Master's in Music Performance at Duquesne University studying with Philip VanOuse (Principal tubist of the Pittsburgh Opera and Ballet, and active freelancer). In her time at Duquesne thus far, Amanda has performed with the Duquesne Symphony Orchestra, the Duquesne Symphony Band and the Duquesne Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble. Amanda is also the assistant director the Duquesne University Pep Band. Amanda earned her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from SUNY Fredonia in Fredonia, NY. She spent 4 years studying with Raymond Stewart (Tubist of Meridian Arts Ensemble, and principal tubist of the American Composers Orchestra). In her time at Fredonia, Amanda received extensive training in both the education and performance fields. She completed several teaching observations, as well of a semester of student teaching at East Aurora Middle School. In her time at East Aurora, she taught all band lessons, and ran band rehearsals quite often. Lastly, she was assistant director of the East Aurora Marching Band post student teaching. Outside of school required music commitments, Amanda is an avid chamber musician. Previous tubist and co-founder of the Fireside Brass Quintet, based out of Western New York, the group won 1st runner up in the first annual Calvin Smith Brass Quintet Competition in Tennessee. She has performed single performances in various other brass quintets, and brass choirs. Also, she was a former member of the Buffalo Silver Band tuba section.
