About Allison W.
Praised for her “beautiful tone…[and] fine musicianship,” Allison W. has worked throughout her life to attain a status of a reputable musician, flutist, and teacher. She holds a BM in performance from University of Miami, and a MM in performance from University of North Texas. As an experienced private instructor, Allison has held a large competitive studio of students throughout the North Texas region, as well as served as an interim adjunct instructor of flute at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She also was the newsletter editor for the Texas Flute Society from 2012-2014, before moving to Lock Haven, Pennsylvania in August of 2014.
She was born in Miami, Florida and has been performing since the age of nine. A strong orchestral player, Allison has played with Walenstein Symphony Orchestra, Ars Flores Symphony, the Lewisville Lake Symphony, and the Lone Star Wind Orchestra. She has performed in the John F Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, DC, the Adrienne Arsht Center for Performing Arts, and the Gusman Concert Hall in Miami. She can be heard on the GIA’s composer collection of George Gershwin and Leonard Bernstein, Audibles, Voicings, as well as After Sunset and the Teaching Music Through Perfomance in Band vol. 9 and the upcoming vol. 10 reference recordings. She was also recently awarded 2nd place in TMTA's Young Artist Competition, a finalist for UNT's Mozart Competition and Orchestral Concerto Competition, and her chamber group, Vivace, and a semi-finalist for the Plowman Chamber Music Competition.
