Both teaching and performing have always been a large part of my life. Even as early as high school (Kiev State R.M.Gliere Higher College of music), I was already conducting private lessons and directing the wind ensemble. And it was at the St. Petersburg Conservatory in Russia, that I received my Masters Degree in Music Education, Performance and Conducting. During the period from 1977-89, I held the position of principal Clarinet in the St. Petersburg Symphony and Kiev State Opera orchestras. At the same time, I worked as a professor at the Kiev State Music Academy. When I immigrated to the US in 1989, I pursued various performance opportunities and was even offered a position in “The President’s Own” military band in Washington, DC. Unfortunately, due to extenuating circumstances, was unable to accept the employment. However, during all these years, I managed to maintain private clarinet lessons within the Tri-state area. I have been, and continue, to dedicate myself to motivational and implementation strategies that engage students in active learning, as well as, help to enrich their lives with music and the arts, whether or not they choose them as professions for the future.

I have had plenty of lessons with Vengerov and he can make a young musician 100x better. He fixed a lot of the problems in regards to my bad habits on clarinet. After each lesson, I felt motivation and progress as a musician. My family, and I saw major improvement after taking lessons with Vengerov as well, and I have listened to multiple of his other students play and was always impressed at how amazing they sounded. He is a big help in my high school Wind Ensemble too. Vengerov is helpful, professional, and is absolutely 1st rate.

My 11 years old loves Mr. Vengegrov. Not only is he a multi-instrumentalist, but he's also a very professional and hard working musician and is very knowledgeable on any area of the music field. He's always willing to go the extra mile to see that everyone with whom he works can work at their best potential. And he's funny!!!

Mr. Vengerov is the epitome of a great teacher. When I first came to him, my skills were lacking in just all about major aspects- tone, finger/hand placement, breathing technique, music theory, etc.. After the first lesson, he had accurately identified everything that I needed to improve upon and started with the fundamentals to build a strong base; all the while keeping the ultimate goal of becoming a better player individually, and in an ensemble, in mind. At the end of each lesson I feel as if a significant amount of progress has been made and I know exactly what to work on and how to work on it. Mr. Vengerov is an extremely patient, knowledgeable, and passionate teacher that you can always count on to be reliable and accommodating. I highly recommend taking lessons with him to anyone who has an interest in advancing their skills, because nothing is better than a teacher that truly loves what they do.
