I'm a graduate of the Canadian College of Performing Arts (Class of 2000), with training and experience in a wide variety of vocal techniques and styles. My specialty is contemporary vocal styles, especially Pop, R&B/Soul, Jazz, Rock, and Gospel. I also teach Songwriting and can aid in recording sessions as a vocal producer. I love teaching students of all ages, and I always approach each student as an individual and tailor our lessons specifically to their level, vocal style, and goals. Lessons include a mix of vocal technique and performance technique. I include practice files to students, because their personal practice time is essential to their vocal growth! I want to get the best out of each student, to help them find their own voice, but to keep singing fun. I want each student to get the very best out of their unique voice, and to be able to use it in health for life! *** Lesson Details *** For adult students and experienced singers, lessons are 45 minutes long, and include a warm-up, technical exercises and work, and work on a song or two. For younger students, due to a shorter attention span, 30 minute lessons are recommended. In these lessons, we warm up, do one or two technical exercise or concepts, and then work on songs. For Songwriting Sessions, 60 minute sessions are your best bet! We'll work on song structure, rhyme, melodies, and creative exercises. *** Studio Equipment *** Keyboard, Microphones, Mic & Music Stands, Amplifier, Instrumental tracks (when available), ProTools 9 *** Specialties *** I specialize in teaching contemporary vocal styles such as Pop, R&B, Gospel, Rock, etc. I also am available in a recording studio environment to coach singers as they record.
