Overview

Since I finished graduate school in 2010, I've regularly performed and taught throughout the Metro Atlanta area. As a singer, I've performed with the Atlanta Opera in productions of Lucia di Lammermoor, The Golden Ticket, and Carmen. I'm also a staff singer at the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta, GA, and I've sung with the award-winning Atlanta Sacred Choral, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus, Peach State Opera (Figaro in The Marriage of Figaro), Valdosta State University Opera (Masetto in Don Giovanni). In 2011 I made my professional theater debut as the young opera singer in The Last Romance.

As a music instructor, my students regularly take Superior and Excellent in the National Federation of Music Club's festivals and consistently receive A ratings at Piano Guild competitions. My voice students have sung leading roles in their high school musicals; highly placed in school talent shows; and are praised for their performances in music school recitals.

*** Lesson Details ***
In our lessons, I like to spend time teaching beginners technique, repertoire, sight-singing (for voice students), and music theory is optional, but highly recommended. I also encourage all my students, not just beginners, to keep a practice journal where they may write down how many minutes they practiced, what they covered, and any ideas they had while practicing. Even more experienced students I've taught love this idea because it's proven to help them practice more frequently. I also bring an MP3 recorder to lessons and email students these lesson recordings, if they wish, to help them practice at home each week.

*** Studio Equipment ***
personal recorder, yamaha keyboard, music books (repertoire, technique, music theory, sight-singing, and lesson books), ear-training computer software.

*** Specialties ***
*Teachers marked as a Student Favorite have taught a minimum of 25 lessons and have received the highest feedback rating from students.Classical and popular music. From Beethoven and Schumann to Taylor Swift, Josh Groban, and Justin Bieber.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Piano Mr. McCool is a great teacher! He spent a lot of time working on our prior workbook to understand what our boy learned in the past. He focused on Art's weakness to fix his problems and most importantly he changed Art's attitude from just doing piano homework to enjoying music. We appreciate Mr. McCool's hard work! August 3, 2011
