Already an accomplished teacher, in 2013 Mr. M. was recognized by Takelessons.com as a Top Teacher for student retention, communication with parents and staff, general positive feedback, and overall professionalism. In addition, both his voice and piano students receive superior ratings at the local National Federation of Music Clubs festivals and consistently receive leading roles in school productions and place in local talent shows.
As a professional baritone, Stephen’s on staff at the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta and maintains a busy performance schedule throughout metro Atlanta. Most recently he was heard as the bullfighter Escamillo (Bizet’s Carmen) for Capitol City Opera’s Dinner and a Diva program. In 2012, he sang Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro) with Peach State Opera and Masetto (Don Giovanni) with Valdosta State University. As an undergraduate, and then a graduate student, at Georgia State University, Stephen appeared as Maximilian (Bernstein’s Candide), The Marquis de la Force (Poulenc’s Dialogues of the Carmelites), and Le Dancaire (Bizet’s Carmen).
In addition to performing opera, Mr. M. has sung as a professional chorister with such groups as The Atlanta Opera Chorus (Carmen and Lucia di Lammermoor), The Atlanta Sacred Choral (now Atlanta Master Chorale), and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus.
I'd prepare middle school and high school singers for upcoming choral concerts, musicals, and school wide talent shows.
Lessons usually consisted of vocal warm ups and preparing songs musically, vocally, and dramatically.
