    Hello! I am Aaron, a fun, energetic veteran teacher who loves to teach music to people of all ages! I have taught high school choir and music theory, as well as taught privately for over 15 years! In my career, I have conducted church and community choirs, participated in numerous small groups, entertained at hotels and directed musical reviews. I have accompanied several instrumental and vocal soloists on the state and national levels, and have performed solo work in several venues in the greater Houston area. I have a true passion for sharing my knowledge and experience with anyone who is willing to learn this wonderful art! I have a B.S. in Bible and Music Education from Dallas Christian College and a M.A. in Music Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. I've studied piano under Ms. Bonnie Graem and Dr. Brad Beckman, voice and choral conducting with Dr. Dana Ihm, Saxophone with Dr. Aaron Lington and Music Theory and pedagogical techniques with Dr. Stephen Lias and Dr. Mark Turner. *** Lesson Details *** I am laid back and flexible, and I think you will find my teaching style fun and engaging. While I have methods that I choose to use, the personal goals of the student are of utmost importance. I teach piano, voice, saxophone and music theory. My preferred methods consist of the following: Piano: John Thompson Voice: Bel Canto: A Theoretical and Practical Method (varies with voice type/experience, etc.) Saxophone: Rubank Music Theory: Harmony in Context (Roig-Francoli); Tonal Harmony (Koska/Payne) *** Studio Equipment *** The studio lessons are taught in a family room/office which includes an 88 keyboard, mirrors, and seating. Parking is on the street. *** Travel Equipment *** I expect my students to provide their own instruments and books. *** Specialties *** I specialize in Classical piano, primarily the Classical era I specialize in Contemporary Christian piano styles I specialize in Classical Alto Saxophone, especially early 2oth century French coposers (i.e. Ibert) I specialize in Classical vocal technique and Broadway Singing I specialize in both traditional and contemporary analytical techniques for music theory, including Schenkerian analysis

    Begun in 1920 as the Texas Band Teachers Association, the Texas Music Educators Association is an organization of over 10,000 school music educators dedicated to promoting excellence in music education. TMEA is comprised of five divisions: Band, Orchestra, Vocal, Elementary and College.
