I am a classically trained musician, so I feel that in order for students to be successful in any type of singing or playing style they should have some basic classical training. I enjoy teaching children's music, contemporary Christian music, and pop.

Lesson Details

Paula’s music philosophy is anyone can play or sing as long as they practice and have the proper technique. Paula does not have a set curriculum for her students because she believes that each student is different and must set different goals. In the lessons, Paula’s first focus is to help the student establish his/her goals, find their strength and weakness. Then she tailors the lesson to achieve this goal by helping the student developed a good foundation through music theory, music ... technique, and sight singing/reading, Paula believes that no matter what style of music you want to play or sing, you should always have some basic classical training. Drawing from her personal experience, Paula strongly believes that classical training can help one be a better player or singer in any genre, whether classical, Broadway, pop or contemporary Christian music.

Paula is passionate teacher with diverse musical styles who lives in Houston, TX. Paula has over 8 years of experience in music instruction. She primarily teaches piano and voice. Her students range as young as pre-school all the way to older adults. Paula was musically trained at very young age. At the age of 5 she already began singing in font of her church congregation. At the age of 7 she began taking piano lessons. Paula has entered in many music competitions such as NATS, GMA and all ... regions. She also received an Outstanding Student Award in Fine Art from McLennan Community College, where she received her Associate Degree in music. She later received a Bachelor Degree from Houston Baptist University in music and political science. Paula had also performed in many musical plays such as the “Fiddler on the Roof”, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, “The Sound of Music”, and “The Magic Flute.” So whatever style or genre of music you are want to learn or developed Paula can help you.
