Hi. I'm Don. I’ve been playing the piano for over 40 years, and B-3 organ and synthesizer for over 30 years. My early training was in classical piano, but then I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, and there was no turning back. After a couple of years of teaching myself guitar, I returned to the piano, and later, organ and synthesizer. I’ve been playing professionally in rock, R&B, blues, country, light jazz, and lounge bands for over 30 years. I did continue to study classical music in college -- piano, theory, composition, and history -- but by then I was committed to popular music. I've always loved teaching -- even while I was in college, I tutored my fellow students in piano and music theory.

Along with performing, I have done much recording session work, and have worked with songwriters to help them better arrange their songs. I’m currently working in three classic rock bands, and in an eclectic duo with my wife, a singer / guitarist / bass player. I still play...

I graduated from California State University East Bay in 2011 with a degree in Business Administration with options in Advertisement and Corporate Management. I have had previous experience working as a mentor for kids, tutoring in a high school math class, and as well as one-on-one tutoring at a private learning center.


I've had some difficulty with math when I was younger, so I can relate to the frustrations that a student can go through. I want to help those students who struggle and let them find comfort in a tutor who makes math easier to understand.

Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Tim started playing tenor saxophone during his junior year in high school. Despite being a late bloomer, Tim was immediately drawn into the wonders of the jazz idiom after listening to a solo recording by American saxophonist, John Coltrane. Tim started studying under bay area woodwind virtuoso Dann Zinn, who he credits as his biggest influence. In his senior year of high school, Tim was also chosen as a member of the San Jose All-Star Jazz Orchestra led by Naoki Taniguchi. After being accepted into UCLA’s Herb Albert School of Music with a scholarship, Tim relocated to Los Angeles for two years. Recently, Tim won an outstanding soloist award at the Reno Jazz Festival with the UCLA combo. When I was in 3rd grade I learned music at school with a clarinet and fell in love with music. Once I reached Jr. High I learned Tenor Saxophone until I reached college. Once I reached college I learned to play trumpet and mellophone for marching band. Through out those years I was also playing piano. I am currently the main musician at my church and I play both the piano and trumpet/mellophone weekly. While I didn't get a Bachelors degree in music I was able to get a minor in music with plenty of exposure to theory. I work well with children and I have have a lot of patience.

I've been playing guitar for 20 years and have recorded many songs as well as played guitar in a production at Ohlone college where I am currently a student. In my free time i enjoy playing old school video game music on guitar and doing animation.
Before moving to California in 2010, I lived in Missouri where I gave guitar lessons. I enjoy sharing my knowledge of guitar with students and offer tips and advice that every guitarist should know when learning the instrument.

I made my solo performance debut at age 7 by singing "It's A Small World" acapella in a school talent show. I have toured internationally, and have performed at many renowned venues within the United Stated, such as the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City.
