I have been making music my entire life. I began studying the violin at age 5 and the piano at age 6, and then when I was 8 started singing in school and church choirs. I received a music scholarship to high school which kept me busy accompanying people and participating in various instrumental and vocal groups. I began taking voice lessons as a freshman at New York University, and I'm now in year 9 of my vocal studies, year 13 of my violin-playing and year 22 of my piano-playing.
After graduating from school, I sang in several operas with the Amato Opera company in New York, and staged a recital here in Philadelphia at the First Unitarian Church in which I sang and also accompanied another singer. I have been a professional member of the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh and the ...

My background is as a classically trained singer and voice teacher. I have studied with numerous leading voice teachers and singers in the United States. I have a Bachelor's and Master's degree from Florida State University in Voice Performance and my Doctorate in Musical Arts in Vocal Pedagogy from The University of Miami. My education has provided me a great understanding of how the voice functions correctly and how to relate this to any level of student, from completely inexperienced singers to advanced singers. My teaching style focuses on making sure that the different parts of the voice are working correctly then focusing on the coordination of the entire system working together. Whether you are preparing for an important singing engagement or just trying to improve ...
Lessons consist of learning a solid vocal technique, and learning various repertoire from broadway, pop, to classical. Also, performing skills will be incorporated, so that the singer feels comfortable acting the song as well. I strongly believe that singers must be actors, and that is what makes us different from instrumentalists. It is also a lot of fun! For children or adults who are willing, I also teach sight singing and spend some of the lessons time learning some basic reading skills.

I am a working, professional singer. While I am currently pursuing an opera career, I have plenty of experience in pop, jazz, musical theater and choral singing, and am very comfortable singing and teaching a variety of styles. I offer lessons in each of these styles. Students can choose to focus on one, or we can try a bit of everything! Lessons will consist of a series of breathing exercises and vocal warm-ups to address issues like range, tone, stamina, releasing tension, etc. I can also help singers with reading music and learning to sight-read. I have helped past students work towards auditions, upcoming school performances, preparing for open mic nights or other public performances, etc. Students can also work on singing while playing an instrument like the guitar or piano. ***For combined lessons, I recommend signing up for at least 45 minutes, as it is difficult to accomplish much in a 30 minute lesson when trying to learn both***
I am a classically trained musician with experience studying jazz and pop. I have performed in a wide variety of musical genres such as opera, oratorio, big band, jazz, musical theater, pop, lots of choral experience, etc.
