Hello, I'm Alison and welcome to my page! I truly believe that music is a gift and I am passionate about sharing that gift through teaching and playing. I love music and I definitely love teaching private lessons, which I have been doing for about 7 years now! Every student brings new challenges of which I'm ready to tackle with them and help them grow.

I received my degree in viola performance from the University of Louisville School of Music in May 2010. I studied under Chien-Ju Liao along with many other great violists in the Louisville community. I've also had the pleasure of playing with many quartets, chamber ensembles and orchestras including Louisville Youth Orchestra, All-State, the UofL Symphony, and the Louisville Orchestra. Some of my greatest moments involve playing in Carnegie Hall and premiering a world-class ballet performance with the UofL Symphony Orchestra. I am a piano and organ teacher from Louisville, Kentucky, with over 30 years of experience in teaching students from 6 years old to 70. I have taught in Michigan and Wisconsin, as well. My educational background includes such schools as Albion College, Alverno College, and the University of Wisconsin. I am also a math teacher for Jefferson County Public Schools in Louisville, and I serve my church as organist, having held a paid organist/choir director position since I was 14 years of age. My biggest joy is sharing my musical talent by helping others to learn that same joy, which includes fun, success, discipline, creativity, and relaxation.

I started playing piano when I was 8. I started writing compositions around 9. Since I was singing in the choir, I began to fuse piano and singing, until I wrote my first song with words when I was twelve. Along the way I learned guitar, bass, drums, and various forms of composition and recording techniques. I toured with my band The Navigators for several years and I have had compositions of mine in TV shows like "The Unit" and in the documentary "Dreamriders" as well as various independent films. Along the way I have taught every age group from six months of age up to adult.

I studied music at Bellarmine College and the University of Louisville School of Music. As a professional musician I have shared the bandstand with countless masters of jazz, rock and blues. A partial list includes legend jazz guitarist Jimmy Raney, vocalist Helen Hume (sang with Count Basie), local guitar legend Jeff Sherman, rhythm and blues group Backstreets, and many more. I currently play weekend nights at Volare Restaurant with multi-style group Charley's Bird. I do individual dates with Jazzcrafters, regularly record at two local studios, and Sundays I play in a Christian rock group at St. Francis in the Fields.
My hope is that my love of music, experience, enthusiasm, and caring attitude will be a winning combination for my students.

I'm originally from South Texas, have lived in Chicago, and am now based out of Louisville, KY. I've been teaching for over 12 years, and I love it! Music is a huge passion of mine, and I love helping students reach their musical potential. I am an involved teacher who has a strong passion for learning and teaching. I love to watch my students learn and succeed, and I make it my goal to give the students all the tools they require to do so. I have received music training on the bass guitar as well as rhythm guitar, and can offer everything from jazz training and bluegrass to rock and blues on bass, and from basic to intermediate lessons to rock guitar training on guitar. I have a music technology, as well as music degrees from Bellarmine University, and can also offer lessons in music theory and as well as recording lessons, and can even offer lessons about stage performance, and how to play to a crowd.

At age 23, after 3 years as a professional actor, with a Bachelors degree in Musical Theater and vocal jazz studies, "Mr. A.D." co-founded a record label and production company that generated $4 Million in sales. With 11 years of experience as a baritone and vocal-percussionist for The Chapter 6 Vocal Band and The Symphonic Pops Consortium, this instructor has performed in over 1,100 shows across the U.S. and Canada. He currently serves as business manager for soul-singer, Mr. Brian Owens.

This vocalist-turned-producer loves to teach kids to discover the strength and expression in their own voices. He also enjoy coaching teens on how to avoid the business mistakes that are common among working musicians. Mr. A.D. is a recent transplant to the Louisville, KY area by way of Chicago and St. Louis. He and his wife, Amanda, enjoy making music with their 3-year-old daughter, A.J..

Simply stated, music is my life! I began piano lessons at age 8, and voice lessons at age 12. I am a graduate of the Youth Performing Arts School in Louisville. While at Y.P.A.S. I majored in Voice, and traveled with the Concert Choir performing in Canada, Austria, Germany, and at the 2001 United States Presidential Inauguration in Washington D.C.

I then went on to the University of Louisville, where I received a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. While at U of L, I was awarded the Charme Von Bomhard Award for the most promising voice student in the area of opera. Also during my time at U of L I performed with the prestigious Cardinal Singers, with whom I toured extensively in Germany, and was featured at the World Symposium on Choral Music in Kyoto, Japan. I have also sang with the Kentucky Opera in performances of Puccini's Tosca and Madame Butterfly.

I have twenty years experience teaching private lessons as well as 10 years coaching chamber music and orchestra. In addition to my many years as a teacher, I've gained extensive performing experiences that have taken me to Canada, Japan, Israel, Jordan, and Egypt. I have also been on the business side of music as a managing partner of the Allegro Quartet in Phoenix, AZ specializing in weddings and special events. As a professional chamber musician and symphony orchestra violist, I've performed both classical and rock styles and have been privileged to play with Johnny Mathis, Rod Stewart, Josh Groban, Clay Aiken, Mannheim Steamroller and the Transiberian Orchestra. I have 40 years of experience in drum performance and teaching. I have a degree in Music Education and Percussion Performance. I have had the opportunity to play all styles of music including marching band, Jazz band, country, rock, jazz styles,and symphonic generes. I have a passion for music and playing. I am a performance based person which in a sense after working hard you want to be able to measure and have fun with your craft. I provide a safe and fun enviroment of teaching. I am bringing a fresh and new approach to teaching drums in the Cincinnati area. While in the Kansas City Area I have shared the stage with Many Musicians and speakers, such as Tony Evans, The Association, Billy Cobham, First Baptist Church of Raytown. I have also done recordings and Musicals involving East Side Baptist Church, Theater at Vis and local school districts. I have studied under Charmaine Asher-Wiley, Dr. Dennis Rogers, and Dr. Mike Sekelsky.
