Hi,

I have been playing the bass guitar for 21 years. I have played for Jazz Bands, Big Bands, Quartets, and Churches. The songs that I have played range from Jazz, Funk, Rock, Ska, Gospel, Straight Jazz, Latin, R&B, Pop, and Blues.

I played Music in High School and in College. Though I am more comfortable with the bass guitar, I can also play and teach lead guitar as well. I have been playing the lead guitar for 10 years. I have taught many beginner students how to play both bass and guitar throughout my music career. Many have moved on to become professional bass players.

I enjoy teaching anyone how to play - playing is what I love and teaching others to be able to play like me or better is a passion of mine. I strongly believe that if you are willing to learn you will be a successful guitarist once our lessons are over.

I've always loved to sing from my earliest remembrance along with a love for the piano and a desire to play. I attended Academy of Our Lady - High School where I took four years of piano as well as vocal instruction. I performed with a group called The Madrigals as a 'high soprano' during those years. I further attended Wheaton College, attained a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in music. I was educated musically through Wheaton's Conservatory of Music. I studied piano, voice, theory, music history, music appreciation,and sight singing to name a few. I auditioned, performed, and traveled with the Women's Glee Club.
Since then, I served as the worship leader in church setting. I was responsible for music selection, accompaniment, and vocal coaching for our worship team. At an early age, I was exposed to a variety of music including Motown, Rhythm & Blues, Rock & Roll, Hip-Hop, Latin, and the Blues. The early influences of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, Otis Redding, The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, and Howlin’ Wolf, kept me singing. I held my first concert at age 4, singing songs of the Tempations.

I began playing the trumpet when I was seven years old. So I've been playing for 17 years now. I've been classically trained from the beginning. While in junior high school, I began venturing into the world of jazz, sharpening my lead trumpet and improvisation skills with focused attention and everlasting curiosity.

I attended Homewood-Flossmoor High School and toured Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic as section leader in my school's Symphonic Band and lead trumpet and soloist of our award-winning jazz band.

Hi My name is Mary Kay I am a Music Education major at VanderCook College of Music. I am a trombone major and vocal minor. I've been singing for 16 years and playing Trombone for 15 years. I am very patient and I love to sing and play trombone, I love to teach. I've grown as a teacher through out my time here at school, and my passion for what I do grows deeper. I enjoy playing music every day , but also love to do photography , knitting, or crocheting.

Some other things I love to do besides music is photography, dancing, and knitting scarves for friends. I love going out to the zoo or little red school house and take pictures of nature.

I also like to go bike riding either having it just around my neighborhood or when around a trail by my house. I find it one exercising and also a great stress reliever because I can't run with my sprained arch muscle in my feet.

As a professorial piano teacher, player, accompanist with Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts with major in Piano Performance, I have more than 22 years experience. My personal philosophy is that music has no boundaries, that it should be enjoyed by everyone regardless of age background, culture, and present level of talent. As a result I love teaching beginner students as much as consummate professional musicians.I view the arts as the most important cornerstone of humanity and civilization in our lives.My goal is to provide the best music education for children and adults based on individual needs of every student has.. My program includes all styles of music with classical music emphasis. Piano lessons involve all facts of music, from the theory, sight-reading, and ear training, to performance and technique.I help every student to love and enjoy music on any level of proficiency. I started my journey with singing in high school by participating in the school musicals and different choir ensembles. When I got to college I started taking private lessons and music classes for fun until I realized this is my passion. Then I started my journey with really learning the voice as an instrument and how it works. I am a vocal scientist at heart believing you will go a long way as long as you know how to grow.

I then went on to get my degree at VanderCook College of Music where they teach nothing but music education so I was able to learn all the band and orchestral instruments on top regular classes and voice lessons. I took the time to study privately with our percussion professor to learn rhythms and with our sight singing and ear training professor to further develop my ear and knowledge. All in all I have been studying the voice for seven years and counting. I do all this so that I could pass that experience down to you.

Nick comes from a family of four generations of music in the GREEK/Balkan repertoire. He graduated from Columbia College of Chicago with a concentration in Music Composition in December of 2009. Currently teaching and performing professionally, Nick enjoys all styles of music, but has been declared as an "old soul" by many of his friends. He enjoys playing lots of Motown, funk, and jazz, but is proficient in Classical, Rock, and Blues as well. When not playing music (rarely), he is a Board member for the GivingBackPack Foundation which provides school supplies to underprivileged children. Nick's dedication to education is shown through his music and his personal volunteer hours, he feels his diverse background gives his students an advantage to a broader perspective of music and theory.

Mezzo Soprano, Andrea began her career in music at the age of five when she began accordion lessons. It was apparent at an early age that Andrea was a natural and not long after, she was entered into local, national, and international competitions. Andrea competed in organizations such as American Accordionists Association, International Couple Mondiale held in Hungary and Slovakia, and Grand Prix held In Geneva, Switzerland, to name a few.
After making a name for herself on the national and international scene, Andrea decided to further her music career by earning her Bachelor's in Music from Saint Xavier University, studying under Jan Bickel, DMA. She earned her degree in Voice Performance and performed several roles and solos in concerts throughout her undergraduate degree. My passion is teaching! I could search my whole life, and never find anything I enjoy doing more. You could call it my "calling," for lack of a better term. That's probably why I've been so successful in my career. I've taught students as young as 4 years old, and students who are in retirement.

Hello, my name is Brian and I am currently studying my Bachelor's in Music Education at VanderCook College of Music. It is the only college in the world that specializes in specifically Music Education, and has been since 1909. The school teaches us a basic understanding of 17 instruments and voice, while also teaching theory, aural skills, music history, professional ed courses, and includes a large number of various ensembles. Because of this, I'm able to teach some basic concepts on all of the band/orchestra instruments. Personally, I started taking piano lessons in 2000 and started drum set lessons in 2002.
