Music Director of the Chicago Philharmonia Orchestra since 1985, Farobag has also served as Managing Director of the University of Chicago’s Performing Artists Series from 1990 through 2002 and principal conductor of its resident professional ensembles. A skilled interpreter of Baroque literature as well, Farobag continues in his capacity as Artistic Advisor to the Baroque Masterplayers, a virtuoso ensemble that concatenates period performance techniques with modern instruments thus creating a unique voice within the realm of 17th and 18th- century repertoire.

My passion is teaching! I could search my whole life, and never find anything I enjoy doing more. You could call it my "calling," for lack of a better term. That's probably why I've been so successful in my career. I've taught students as young as 4 years old, and students who are in retirement.
The success I've had, comes with years of taking private lessons, performing, studying, and always keeping an open mind to new ideas, and relating my experience with all my students.

As a child prodigy, my music talent was discovered at the ripe old age of three when I began playing Christmas carols on a toy piano I got for Christmas. After 16 years of private tutors, a scholarship to the Conservatory and studies of music Theory, Drama, and Conducting in College, I decided I didn't want to teach I wanted to play. I began a lifelong career as a pianist, writer, producer. I started playing for Sunday School in the Third grade and have continued to play for various churches as an Organist, Choir Director and Minister of Music for the past 45+ years. I began my own production company in the early 70's and have produced numerous productions showcasing the talents of young and old. My students range from 5 years to 87 years young and I specialize in teaching Seniors how to fill their retirement years with music. I have been playing guitar for 14 years and teaching for 7 years. I have worked as a private guitar instructor at several music education establishments, and also currently out of my home studio in Riverside(60546). I have also worked as a band coach for youth groups, where I taught them cover songs, helped them write their own songs and prepared them for live performances.
I started taking private guitar lessons as a teenager for several years and played in my High School Jazz Band along with other original rock bands. While in high school, I was able to study with popular Chicago rock guitarist Kevin M. Buck where I first learned music theory which inspired me to be more studious with the guitar.

Hello everybody,

I am an individual who is lucky enough to have grown up around music - it has been a second language of mine since I can remember. I played my very first gig at just 3 years old!
Well, I have come some ways since then! As a graduate of Columbia College Chicago with a BA in Percussion Performance (Magna Cum Laude) and many year's experience on the road, I have developed the wonderful craft of music making into a professional career.
Being a native of Chicago has built in me a very diverse musical background; exposure to the city's vast range of cultural scenes have enabled me to gain a strong sense of Funk, Rock, Blues, Afro-Cuban, Hip Hop, Jazz, Electronic and Pop.

I started my journey with singing in high school by participating in the school musicals and different choir ensembles. When I got to college I started taking private lessons and music classes for fun until I realized this is my passion. Then I started my journey with really learning the voice as an instrument and how it works. I am a vocal scientist at heart believing you will go a long way as long as you know how to grow.

I then went on to get my degree at VanderCook College of Music where they teach nothing but music education so I was able to learn all the band and orchestral instruments on top regular classes and voice lessons. I took the time to study privately with our percussion professor to learn rhythms and with our sight singing and ear training professor to further develop my ear and knowledge. All in all I have been studying the voice for seven years and counting. I do all this so that I could pass that experience down to you.

Hi My name is Mary Kay I am a Music Education major at VanderCook College of Music. I am a trombone major and vocal minor. I've been singing for 16 years and playing Trombone for 15 years. I am very patient and I love to sing and play trombone, I love to teach. I've grown as a teacher through out my time here at school, and my passion for what I do grows deeper. I enjoy playing music every day , but also love to do photography , knitting, or crocheting.

Some other things I love to do besides music is photography, dancing, and knitting scarves for friends. I love going out to the zoo or little red school house and take pictures of nature.

I also like to go bike riding either having it just around my neighborhood or when around a trail by my house. I find it one exercising and also a great stress reliever because I can't run with my sprained arch muscle in my feet.

Mezzo Soprano, Andrea began her career in music at the age of five when she began accordion lessons. It was apparent at an early age that Andrea was a natural and not long after, she was entered into local, national, and international competitions. Andrea competed in organizations such as American Accordionists Association, International Couple Mondiale held in Hungary and Slovakia, and Grand Prix held In Geneva, Switzerland, to name a few.
After making a name for herself on the national and international scene, Andrea decided to further her music career by earning her Bachelor's in Music from Saint Xavier University, studying under Jan Bickel, DMA. She earned her degree in Voice Performance and performed several roles and solos in concerts throughout her undergraduate degree. Tim has been a freelance percussionist/musician/music educator in the Chicagoland area for the past 6 years. His areas of study include percussion, music performance, music education, music theory, and aural skills (ear training). He has performed with ensembles such as the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps, Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps, the Northern Illinois University Philharmonic, the NIU percussion ensemble, the NIU opera theatre, the NIU dance theatre, the NIU "samba" ensemble, Northcoast Academy Percussion Ensemble, the Chicago Bears Drumline, the Chicago Bulls Drumline, and has done numerous performances of different styles on drum set. I have been studying drum set for 13 years. In my senior year of high school I attended the Merit School of Music studying with percussionist Doug Brush. I went on to attend Roosevelt University’s Music Conservatory, studying classical percussion under percussionist Ed Harris and then transferred to Columbia College where I was able to study with drummer’s Frank Donaldson and Tom Hipskind, drummer/percussionist Ruben Alvarez, and drummer/vibraphonist Jarrett Hicks. Through my experiences and education I was able to hone my skills and solidify my musicianship. Studying with such a variety of drummers allowed me to pick up different perspectives and teaching styles which I have implemented into my own practice and teaching. I received my Bachelor of the Arts in Music degree Fall of 2009.

I have studied the guitar for over fifteen years, and have been teaching students of all ages for the last twelve. Specializing in lead rock guitar and acoustic folk, I have had the pleasure to perform and record with over a dozen acts at a variety of venues and studios across the Chicagoland area. In addition to guitar instruction, I graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 2006 with a degree in Audio Arts and Acoustics, which has allowed me to work as a professional Acoustical Technician, Audio Engineer and Audio Instructor for a variety of companies in many different capacities.

I have been teaching music for the past 20 years, I offer guitar, bass, piano and voice lessons. I am a professional musician who performs live on a regular basis under the stage name of Pistol Pete. I have toured in Japan, Poland and Italy. Music is more than a hobby. For me, it is my passion. I have had three students that continued their studies at Berklee College after taking lessons from me.
