Music Director of the Chicago Philharmonia Orchestra since 1985, Farobag has also served as Managing Director of the University of Chicago Performing Artists Series from 1989 through 2002 and principal conductor of its resident professional ensembles. A skilled interpreter of Baroque literature as well, Farobag continues in his capacity as Artistic Advisor to the Baroque Masterplayers, a virtuoso ensemble that concatenates period performance techniques with modern instruments thus creating a unique voice within the realm of 17th and 18th- century repertoire.

I love listening to music. I took each of my sons to music lesson starting at age 4. Music and singing come natural to them now as adults.
My favorite times are listening to them and I would love to join in but I am always self conscience and don't want to embarrass them.
When we recently retired I decided to take some classes for enjoyment and also to push myself to conquer some fears..I was going to go to a local music teacher to inquire about singing lesson, but somehow I happened on takelessons.com and was matched up with Mr. Farobag. Lucky me!! I have been taking lessons on Skype for over 6 months now! Farobag is the kindest and the most patient teacher in the world..really, really..he makes me feel like I can keep a tune and that I am capable of improving.
I actually pleasantly surprised my family by volunteering at a camp talent show over the summer. I might not have been the best but I was given a standing ovation for trying. (and probably the oldest up there!)
..and this is the best..I was taking lessons for more than 2 months when I decided to look up Mr. Farobag on the TakeLessons site..Oh My Goodness! I really lucked out - that is all I will say- as I could go on and on about his talents and cv!
Thank You Thank you Farobag for your encouragement.

Mr. Farobag provides piano lessons for my teenage daughter. She has been working with him for about 10 months. Since she started working with Farobag, her love for playing piano has grown, and her skills have improved exponentially. In addition to his obvious talents, he is professional, patient, and also very flexible with scheduling. He has a genuine interest in seeing his students learn and improve. I would highly recommend him for anyone interested in taking lessons. He also has a strong background in math, and has offered to tutor my 3 children, if needed. We may be calling upon him soon for that!

I can not describe my level of admiration and respect for Farobag. He is a great teacher, very much in sync with his inner child and therefore a perfect teacher. Hard to imagine he giving up of any of his students no matter how hard at times teaching appears to be.

About Brian

Hello, my name is Brian and I am currently studying my Bachelor's in Music Education at VanderCook College of Music. It is the only college in the world that specializes in specifically Music Education, and has been since 1909. The school teaches us a basic understanding of 17 instruments and voice, while also teaching theory, aural skills, music history, professional ed courses, and includes a large number of various ensembles. Because of this, I'm able to teach some basic concepts on all of the band/orchestra instruments. Personally, I started taking piano lessons in 2000 and started drum set lessons in 2002. I've always had a dual musician life after that point, and was apart of the band and jazz band programs from 5th grade until now (sophomore in college). While ...

This teacher has many great qualities in the field of music education.

I am learning a great deal from this teacher about the piano and life qualities in general. I have taken the tools I've learned from each lesson to apply in my own practice to develop myself as a musician. I would recommend Brian Goodman to anyone interested in learning about music.

Mr. Kelvin is a very skillful musician and a passionate teacher. Just a couple of months into learning piano, the 30 minute weekly lesson at Mr. Kelvin's studio became a fun activity my 5 year old daughter is enjoying every week. I can tell that she is having fun every time at Mr. Kelvin's studio, and she just loves learning piano there.

Kudos to Kelvin! He played an integral part in preparing Nick for his audition with the Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra in Atlanta. The best part is that Nick passed the audition and will be joining the orchestra later this month. Kelvin and Nick have a great connection. He truly supports my son's love of music.

Dave is an exceptional teacher!

I am a beginner guitar player, Dave has been patient and kind at every lesson. This has been an inspiration and a great help for me to continue learning the guitar. I wanted to find a guitar teacher and not just a guitar player; his approach to teaching is outstanding. He has a love for music and a gift of being an excellent teacher. I always leave my lesson feeling good about my progress and inspired to continue learning to play the guitar. I recommend him for any player at any level; he he teaches good practice habits and is very knowledgeable of music theory and how to teach each person individually. It is rare to find someone knowledgeable in music and apply their knowledge to teaching. I was fortunate to find him!

He's awesome. :)

He makes learning the guitar so comfortable. He makes things easier to review and doesn't mind going over things you may have forgotten. If I could, I would get everyone I know to take lessons from him. I couldn't ask for a better teacher!

He is wonderful, talented, patient, and has all the tools you need to learn the instrument. He teaches you what you to learn first and he will never tell you that music has to be played a rather strictly fashion.
