I am a Stetson University graduate. I absolutely love teaching, especially music. To me, there is nothing more satisfying than seeing the expression of wonder and amazement come to the face of a student when they realize that they can do something musical. Only once that I am sure that the student has learned something am I completely satisfied and convinced that I have done my job.
Music is such a powerful resource that we have. Most times, we take it for granted, as it is so readily available for us. We have the radio that automatically turns on when we start the car, the music that pumps into the stores while we visit them, wonderful melodies that surround us during movies, etc. Once you learn the art, however, you will no longer take for granted the purity of music.
As said before, to teach anyone this amazing gift is an astonishingly wonderful thing I can do for myself. Allow me to share this with you.
I graduated from Stetson University in DeLand, FL in July of 2010. My degree is a Bachelor's of Music Education, with more than 17 years of background in playing music.
My qualifications include more than 17 years of experience playing music, privately teaching for a little over 3 years, and being State certified by the Board of Education to teach in the public school system.
Bass Guitar, Drum, Guitar, Music Performance, Music Recording, Music Theory, Percussion, Songwriting
Music isn't just a career choice: it is a way of life. I have been playing music since I was a toddler; everything I have learned about life has been through music. I believe that self-expression is important to being confident with yourself. I look forward to sharing my passion for music and teaching with any students who are ready to learn!
I have over a decade of performance experience and have played along the East Coast with several bands. Some venues I have performed at recently include The Plaza Theatre in Orlando; Backbooth in Downtown Orlando; The Crowbar in Tampa; The Bandshell and The Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach. Some groups I play with are Run Rhino, The Mighty St. John's, The Children of Stone, and MPG (Mobile Performance Group). I am a versatile musician who primarily performs and instructs on Drums, Bass, and Guitar (acoustic and electric). I teach nearly all styles of music, including classical, jazz, funk, and rock. I have graduated from Stetson University with degrees in Digital Arts, Music, and Business.
I am also an accomplished computer musician and sound engineer. I am fluent in a range of professional software programs which includes Logic, Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Amadeus Pro, Cubase, and MaxMSP. I have done sound for large national touring acts such as Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, and Matt Costa.
I feel that nothing is impossible. Great results aren't given, they are earned, and I know how to set goals to reach those results. This is a virtue I like to share with students. My dedication to music has helped me accomplish much at a young age.
Bass Guitar, Guitar, Classical Guitar, Flamenco Guitar, Music Performance, Music Recording, Music Theory, Songwriting
I am a recent graduate of the Stetson University Classical Guitar (performance) program and also regularly perform in professional groups across a broad spectrum of genres.
Another passion of mine is digital arts, in which I minored during college. With experience in Pro Tools, Logic, Ableton Live, and Max/MSP (sound design and music programming), I am well versed in these areas.
I grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, where I began playing music around the age of 11. I was selected to attend LaVilla Schol of the Arts in 6th grade, where I began playing various low brass instruments and playing in the school's symphonic band. I decided around the age of 13 that I wanted to begin playing guitar and soon found myself in the classical guitar program at LaVilla, along with still playing in the symphonic band and making All-State band later that year.
When it came to the decision of where I would attend high school, I wanted to attend Douglas Anderson School of the Arts so that I could continue my pursuit in music as a career. I continued to refine my skills as a player and began focusing, mostly, on guitar. I also found out about Digital Arts and the ability to use a computers and electronics to compose and record music. I have always loved to write my own music and found this to be a great creative outlet.
After graduating high school, I was able to attend Stetson University on a music scholarship to continue my studies. I played guitar under Dr. Stephen Robinson and studied Digital Arts under Dr. Nathan Wolek, graduating from Stetson in May of 2011.
I have also been performing and recording in various groups around central Florida, including Run Rhino, LLC, Strings Attached, various classical guitar quartets, and my own solo recitals. I have played with artists such as Slow Ride and Starship (Jefferson Starship) and I have recorded in studios all over the south east region
Some of my influences include:
Manuel Barrueco, John Williams, Charles Ives, Edward Elgar, Jeff Buckley, Bjork, Justice, DeadMou5, Johann Sebastian Bach, Domenico Scarlatti, Stephen Robinson, Led Zeppelin, Ana Vidovic, Hans Zimmer, Clint Mansell, and so on.
