My purpose as a teacher is realize my students' goals. I believe that to teach children is to be entrusted with part of child-rearing. Because of this, I strive to raise self-esteem as well as inspire them towards musical excellence! I do this with much positive reinforcement . With more advanced students I include self-evaluation and discussion with the student so that they can become involved in their own development and musicianship.

I have been teaching guitar for over a decade and love doing it. Before we get into how you can succeed as a guitarist here is a little background about me. I grew up in a small town and began playing guitar at age 12. I was taught a few chords from friends and tried to learn songs from tabs on the Internet. After a couple years I realized the need for formal training, so I began taking classical guitar lessons. I was introduced to formal music instruction and my abilities really blossomed. I became enamored with the guitar, and music as a whole, and decided to pursue music as a profession. I attended University of Colorado at Denver and received a Bachelors in Jazz Guitar performance.

Originating from Seattle, WA, I (married to a piano teacher) am a 20-something professional vocalist with a broad range of experience. Having professionally performed everything from opera to beat-boxing (it's true!), I can teach all styles. With a Bachelor of Music (Musical Theater) from Belmont University I am more than qualified to teach with a well supported foundation. I'm primarily trained as an opera singer, but I also love working on musical theater (it was my gateway drug into opera!). My little sister is a wonderful singer- songwriter, and she got me interested in helping people sing well while playing their guitars.
