About Bill

I've been playing for 29 years, and teaching for 22. I’m both a professional musician/songwriter; as well as a professional, experienced, and diverse guitar instructor. I teach all styles; from finger picking classical and flamenco guitar, to all rock(from classic to indie), jazz, world music styles, etc. I also teach bass; as well as Mediterranean instruments such as the Greek Bouzouki. All ages are welcome. Some insight into my teaching method: I teach sight reading notation, and all general theory; as well as general guitar tab; from the simplest songs for young students, to complex classical guitar and jazz improvisation. I started playing at 12 years old, have won numerous awards; locally and nationally; and have written and recorded in a wide variety of styles. I also front ...

A great teacher!

Bill is one of those rare guitar teachers who have both an incredible amount of musicianship and talent and a genuine passion for passing that knowledge on to students. He takes educating his students very seriously and it shows. I've been taking lessons with Bill for the last couple months and my playing has gotten so much better. I'm very excited to see where we can take my playing in the future.

About Heather

I love teaching, simply love teaching! I teach students of all ages. I teach piano, voice, clarinet, and saxophone. I have taught for over 25 years. My students have lots of opportunities for performance, if they choose to. We perform at Nursing Homes, Retirements, Festival of Trees, and Seasonal Recitals. There are at least 2 recitals a year, 1 at Christmas and 1 in the Spring, if enough participation, we often have one in summer with a party afterward. We also participate in the Michigan Music Association competition. I have also had students perform in Disney World in Florida!!! I have been in many musicals such as Annie, Gypsy, Rock Around the Clock. I have put on solo recitals. I am a member of my church choir. My students and I have fun while we are learning music! It ...

About JOSEPH

With my Bachelor's/Master's Degree and 14 years of experience in education, it will be an honor for me to add more to students. *** Lesson Details *** Music study helps people young and old to overcome shyness and build confidence. It empowers them as they refine their special talents. We will study ear training . My Method: Listen, Sing, Clap, Play, Read and Write. With these tools you can look deeper into the elements that make up music. Children don't learn to read before they can talk. So why should anyone have to try to read before they can play? That is how music is taught, traditionally and why a huge percentage of students just quit or have a miserable time with piano lessons. Music should be fun. Period. We will always have a lot of fun, but there is a ...

About Charlene

Over 25 years violin teaching experience. I have successfully taught students ages 3 to adult. Anyone can learn to play the violin. Lessons in a comfortable setting, either my house or yours. *** Lesson Details *** Lessons are taught in my home in a comfortable setting. Parents are encouraged to sit in on lessons and are expected to help their child practice. I teach the Suzuki Method and the Suzuki book and recording are required. I will change details to suit a student, for instance I teach note reading long before a traditional Suzuki teacher would and I will add non-Suzuki materials into lessons if needed. Elements of the Suzuki Philosophy - every child (or adult) can learn - listening and encouragement are essential - parents are the real teachers, I am the director ...

Excellent violin teacher

Charlene has done a wonderful job with teaching my 6 year old daughter the fundamentals of playing the violin using the Suzuki method. She has not only helped technically, but has also given my daughter the encouragement and patience necessary to develop her confidence with playing. Her high level of experience and passion for playing the violin is very evident. I would highly recommend Charlene to anyone looking to improve their performance with this instrument.

Jim J. Rochester, MI

About Jim

After much success with playing oboe & English Horn in High School I set out to be a professional musician. I achieve a great amount of success such as playing in the San Francisco Ballet, performing with Pepe, and Angle Romero, and starting to have my compositions performed publicly. After my first year of college I transferred to the University of Michigan and auditioned for the School of Music Composition Department (one of the top composition schools in the country). For the next 4 years I immersed myself in the multifaceted world of composition. Many of my compositions were performed publicly during this period. I believe that the teaching of music is a calling to share and explore the techniques and skills that can help a student achieve their own personal goals. I enjoy teaching

Jim is a wonderful teacher...patient and understanding with a wealth of information to share. He helped me understand the basics of musical composition, such as intervals, chords, melody, and harmony. Thanks to his instruction I'm now able to bring my musical ideas into reality. Not only did he teach me formal construct, he also brought an innate musicality and artistic vision to everything he approached.
