French Horn, Music Theory, Trumpet
Hello everyone! Please have a look around my profile and feel free to contact me. I have taught privately since 2009 and just joined takelessons.com in 2014.
I strongly feel each student needs lesson goals tailored to what he or she wants to take away from music. Getting ready for a college performance degree, making it to state solo contest, surviving band music, or simply discovering the huge scope of music available to us these days are each worthy goals, but require different preparation. I will work with you to figure out where your interests lie and focus on those, first and foremost!
After completing my bachelor's and master's degrees in trumpet performance out in the Midwest, I spent two years living and working in Chicago, IL before returning home to the Portland area in 2013. I have since started a new studio in Beaverton, OR and am taking on new students at this time while maintaining an active teaching schedule with the Southridge High School marching band and Oregon Crusaders drum and bugle corps, as well as performing in the Portland metro area.
Thanks for your time, and happy practicing!

After graduating from the University of Kentucky with a degree in music, I moved to New York where I lived for 11 years. I have been a professional multi-instrumentalist since then and a member of many bands including Beirut and Arcade Fire. I have also performed and/or recorded with many others including David Byrne, Passion Pit, Coldplay, and LCD Sound system. I have performed in dozens of countries, at some of the world's biggest festivals (Bonnaroo, Coachella, Glastonbury), and on many television shows (Colbert, Letterman, Fallon).
I have experience in playing and teaching many different styles and can teach you what YOU want to learn. Playing music can be a very rewarding experience, but should also be fun. I can promise you will have fun in our lessons and have fun with music in general.
