Olga Zastrelkina-Szelc Native of Yekaterinburg, Russia, Ms. Zastrelkina-Szelc is piano teacher/accompanist residing in Houston, TX. She holds a Bachelor's degree in piano from Krasnoturyinsk Music College, Russia and an advanced education in Stage Performance from Academy of Culture and Art in St. Petersburg, Russia. Working as an accompanist with vocalists, vocal ensembles, choir, and brass Ms. Zastrelkina-Szelc worked for six years (1993-1999) at the Music College of Krasnoturyinsk. During her tenure, she worked with various gifted students and ensembles preparing them for competitions. Her greatest accomplishment was preparing a gifted student to participate and win the coveted RUSSIAN NATIONAL MUSIC COMPETION. She participated at all concerts vocal, organ, local, in addition to the annual and semi-annual concerts of the music college. As an accompanist for ballet (1999- 2001) she worked with the folk choreographic ensemble "Merry-go Round" and successfully prepared this diverse group of students’ ages (ranging from six to eighteen years) for local, regional and national competitions. Her efforts were rewarded with the winning of a prestigious NATIONAL DANCE COMPETITION. Music Teacher/Private Tutor -Renaissance Municipal Music School (2001 to 2006). Taught piano theory, grammar, reading notations, and music literature. Accompanied vocals (varying from individuals to choirs) and prepared the students for competitions.  Olga teaches private piano lessons from her home studio in Northwest of Houston,TX, between Hwy 249 & Hwy 290.  Classes are available Monday through Saturday, from 10am-7pm. Using a unique methods of hand position and fingering that give my students a strong and universal technique which they can apply to any style of piano playing. I have been succesfully applying both of these methods for last 5 years of my teaching studing. I feel fortunate that all of my students have been progressing well since they started taking lessons from me. I don't just teach students how to play the piano, I introduce and involve the whole cultural background of humanity in the process. I will teach you the methods of the masters and you will gain the tools necessary to playing the piano well. Note-reading, music theory and composition are all components taught. You can become proficient in music ranging from the classical (Bach, Bethoven, Chopin to contemporary music). Based on your skills evaluation, we will create a program to meet your goals. You will be able to play the music of your choice. Adults may choose music from classics like Zhivago, God Father or the Sound of Music while children may choose from an array of Disney tunes, Christmas songs to classic children's music. As a pianist and accompanist, I can teach techniques for performing with solo vocalists or groups, for fun with your friends or working gigs. After 10+ years as an accompanist for vocalists and ballet, I have the skills and techniques to help you become proficient.
