I am a life long musician with a 35+ year professional musical career in touring and studio work.

In the 25 years I've been teaching music, I have developed comprehensive lesson plans, relying upon material I have accumulated and created in building a massive library of diverse stylistic lesson materials from Rock to Blues and Bluegrass, Folk, Finger Style to Slide guitar. I am also well versed in Worship, CCM and Gospel styles.

My music education began with formality in Classical music. I became a professional musician very early in life, at about age 18. I gained valuable knowledge and understanding in the "real world", through experience and from fellow musicians. Along the way I continued my studies, learning music theory which, combined with my experience, gives me a very broad understanding of many musical styles - because I have played them professionally and understand them from the inside out.

I have been playing drums since I was 10 years old. I loved playing drums so much that it became my life work. I was so advanced at an early age that I began giving lessons and teaching drum line when I was 13. I joined my first professional rock band at 15, and I have been playing and teaching music ever since.
I was fortunate to play in one the worlds top drum and bugle corps, the Santa Clara Vanguard, I also studied Jazz from the area's top jazz drummer, Dick Carlo, who was a student of Joe Morello. My technique is a unique combination of Jazz, Orchestral, and Rudimental styles. The luckiest part of my education was that I went to Lynbrook High School, which had the top concert band in the California. This is where I learned to play concert and orchestra music, and I learned about style, and musicianship.

I have toured the East Coast Venues (NYC to Key West) for 30 years, and produced 10 CDs, and have 3 EMMY AWARDS for sound track music for the EXPEDITION FLORIDA SERIES, Nature Documentaries. They were funded by the University of Florida, Museum of Natural History, and the Tourist Development Council of Alachua County, Florida.

My name is Kyle Shipp and I'm incredibly passionate about music education for all ages. Over twenty years of playing all instruments has taught me there is not one specific way to teach music, so I change my curriculum for every student and completely customize what you learn to how you learn, and what you're interested in. I started teaching music lessons in after school programs when I was eleven and fell totally in love. I continued to do this for many years driving to neighboring towns, volunteering at church youth groups and local Boys and Girls Club all around my hometown.

I went on to study Music Education at Oregon State University and Guitar Performance at the University of Oregon. At each of these Universities I taught students my age, and a few professors, as well as locals in each town.

Nicole’s journey in music began when her father introduced her to improvised music at a young age. Her earliest exposure to jazz included Sonny Rollins’ “Saxophone Collossus” and John Coltrane’s “Giant Steps”. She began playing the clarinet at the age of ten, transitioning to tenor saxophone the following year.

Nicole’s interest and curiosity for music began to blossom in high school. She became involved in a variety of performance ensembles, both within her school and in the community. In 2007, Nicole joined the Pacific Crest Jazz Orchestra directed by Thara Memory. This competitive, pre-professional ensemble not only provided a solid foundation in the classic repertoire of the jazz lineage, but also granted her the opportunity to travel the country and perform at several renowned jazz festivals, including the Monterey Jazz Festival for two consecutive years. I have been a guitar and voice instructor for over 15 years. I really love this job! I had a real hard time learning guitar when I was growing up because of an accident to my left arm, but I wanted to play so much that I was able to overcome it. Because of this I think I have learned to be a very patient teacher. I see students who get frustrated and think that it's too hard to play the guitar, but I promise you my program is fun and simple.I can show you the steps to success. I have taught over 500 students in a variety of cities from Minneapolis Minnesota, to Los Angeles California, and now Portland Oregon. I am currently obtaining my Masters in Music education and spiritual psychology from Marylhurst, and I have taught every age from 5-65. Mikael was born and raised in the Willamette Valley. He started playing piano at 6 years old, and took up guitar at age 12. He began taking guitar lessons and learning the classic rock, pop and R&B songs of the 60s, 70s, and 90s while also being classically trained by John Doan, an award winning guitarist and professor at Willamette University.

At age 15 Mikael was performing in local coffee shops with his acoustic folk band, and performing at weddings as well as solo on guitar. It was not uncommon to have the coffee shops completely filled with people standing outside to listen. Mikael's musical endeavors continued in high school as he played and performed with the best jazz choir and choral group in the state of Oregon at South Salem High School. He also won 2nd place for solo guitar in the State High School championship encompassing all high school divisions in Oregon.

I am a singer/songwriter with 2 CD's on itunes and I have been involved in children theater for 7 years appearing in12 shows such as Annie, Seussical the Musical and Snow White. I started singing in High School, and as a senior, I made it to All State Choir.
After high school, I attended and graduated from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy with a focus in musical theater.
Most recently I performed as Benny from "Rent''. Previous roles include Munkustrap from "Cats", Tulsa in "Gypsy" and Paul from "A Chorus Line."
