My son has been taking lessons from Matt for almost 2 years and we could not be happier with his progress. Matt provides the personal attention that each of his students needs for growth in guitar skills and also music theory. I also appreciate his flexibility and willingness to accommodate our hectic schedule.

I have been a student for Mathew for past few months and I enjoy his classes. In his classes, I've been learning songs, guitar techniques, music theory, and even a little about the music business from his experiences. He has a great in-home studio which is perfect for guitar lessons and I've have learned a lot from him and I look forward to his classes each week. In my opinion, he is the the best type of person to learn from because of his dedication and his ability to teach anybody at any level.

My Teaching Philosophy for Guitar

You will learn how to read and play acoustic and classical guitar music with William Leavitt's Guitar Method books. This is great for young adults to adult learners. For younger guitarists we will begin with Alfred's Kids Guitar Course.

I can teach you to read, write and learn music theory. We will explore avenues of technique and sound associated with listening skills. We will keep track of your weekly assignments, sight-reading and progress in a journal.

I will supply loose papers with melodies you will learn across the frets.

About Melissa

Hello and welcome to your studio!

I have been teaching privately for about two years in the Everett/Snohomish area. My love for music is deep and I enjoy sharing what I know with my fellow students. Many of my students compliment my patience and say they have learned so much in so little time. Life with music is a journey but not only that, it is a lifestyle. Being a good, dedicated student will bring so many wonderful moments and rewards as you take the journey with your instrument of choice. I have students entering talent shows, performing at assemblies, choir, musical theatre and locally for the elderly during Christmas. I am also applying for the Music Teachers National Association program. This will offer students more opportunities for performance, competition, writing and ...

I am a guitar player making the transition to piano. In just the three short months I have been taking lessons from Melissa, she has improved my ability to sight read, deepened my knowledge of music theory, helped me learn over 20 songs on piano. I have have many music teachers over the last two decades and Melissa is, by far, the most knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging.

Fantastic teacher and role model

Melissa has done a fantastic job working with my 9 year old daughter on both Piano and Guitar lessons. Melissa is patient and consistent with her teaching methods and that resonates extremely well with my daughter. My daughter has learned a TON is a very short time frame. I look forward to continued lessons.

Mahir P. Everett, WA

I've taught guitar to many friends and family who have wanted to learn. I'm by no means a certified guitar teacher but I have been playing for the last 5 years and I can teach the basics to intermediate level, but I would just like to teach beginner level for a while before I begin teaching intermediate just so I can get a hang of teaching and where students are at. I mostly play acoustic guitar and use my fingers to pick strings. I look forward to teaching! Thanks!

About Mahir

Hi everyone, I'm Mahir. I'm graduating in the spring from the UW-Bothell, with my BS in Accounting and Finance. I'm excited to tutor/teach again.I taught English in Turkey over the summer and really enjoyed the experience. I'm great at many things, so why not use that knowledge by helping others. I'm very good at sports, especially basketball, soccer, and combat sports, such as kickboxing and mixed martial arts. I'm a business major but my passion is mixed martial arts, and hope to fight and train full time once I have a stable job. I played for the Mariner High School Varsity soccer team, as a defender, and ended up going to state playoffs my senior year. I'm very knowledgeable in soccer tactics and excel in positioning on the field. I'm a fitness ...
