As a recent graduate of Fairfield University, I have earned my Bachelors degree in Physics, with minors in both Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering. As a child, I have always been interested in astronomy and the wonders of space. I recall at a young age I would tell my family and friends that they would one day see me in a spaceship soaring amongst the stars-- this has become a lifelong goal of mine.
In high school I was first introduced to physics, and took both honors physics and AP physics. I instantly fell in love with the subject and decided that while in college I would earn my physics degree.
While at the university, I was highly involved in biomedical physics research under Dr. Min Xu since 2009. The research encompassed a non-invasive procedure using laser light sources for early stage prostate and breast cancer detection. I have been teaching piano to students after school for four years in the elementary schools and at community centers. I have been playing piano for nine years. My ability to compose music as well as read it would make me a great asset to the students. I treat each student as an individual, even when I engage in group lessons. I have had experience in teaching a Downs Syndrome child.

I can patiently motivate the students to do what they may not think they can do on the piano. The lessons begin very basically and get more and more complex. I have successfully taught about one hundred students to play piano accurately. The result is an enjoyable experience.

I encourage students who play by ear to learn how to read music so that they can be more marketable in the music profession. Playing by ear is a very good and useful skill, but to be more professional, these students need to be well-rounded by learning how to read music as well.

My name is Jarrod V. I am a graduate of the University of Rhode Island Music Program. I currently teach music in Jamestown, RI. I also manage and play saxophone in a six-piece funk/reggae band that tours the north-east. We were recently recognized as "Band Of The Year" in Southern New England. I have performed on stage with members of the Grateful Deal and the Allman Brothers. I have also opened for acts such as P-Funk, Buddy Guy, the Violent Femmes, Johnny Winter and the Spin Doctors.

I started playing music in the fourth grade. My first instrument was the
cello. In fifth grade I changed my instrument to the violin and found that it was definately something I wanted to persue. A year later I started
on the piano, and unlike the violin, I found that it was easier to learn it on my own. Because of that, my knowledge on the piano has been mostly self taught. I have been playing both instruments going on 16 years, and even though I did
play other instruments, nothing took center stage like the
piano and violin.

I began teaching guitar and bass in 2003 as a college student. I have played and recorded with many bands in the Providence/ Southeastern Massachusetts area including The Third Party, Jon the Cartoon Whale and Natural Progression.

I specialize in jazz ,fusion, funk and rock. I encourage students to analyze the music they listen to and incorporate what they learn into their own playing. I teach sight reading, rhythm training, music theory, chord vocabulary, ear training, songwriting and improvisation.

I am a guitarist from Mansfield, MA who grew up in a completely non-musical household, and, for one reason or another, always had an affinity for music. After failing monumentally at piano lessons in the second grade, it took several years before I made the decision to pick up a guitar for the first time. As it turned out, learning the instrument was the best possible thing that could have happened to me, and it became an important asset in almost every activity in which I participated. My hard work ultimately paid off, and by the time I graduated high school, it was clear to me that I had made the right choice in seeking to pursue music as a career.

I am a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I have a wide-ranging experience in the music world, playing a variety of styles and a variety of orchestrations. In 2007 i was lucky enough to join Wynton Marsalis at Avery Fischer Hall in New York. Two years later, I had the honor of playing drums behind Dave Brubeck and saxophonist Grace Kelly at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. I strive to not only assist musicians in expanding their technique and vocabulary, but also to encourage musicians in accessing their creativity and spirituality. Music is an incredible tool through which we can achieve amazing things, and through the practices of improvisation, ear training, and musical internalization, we can achieve so much more.

I have been playing the Violin for over 15 years. After studying for years through the Longy School of Music in Cambridge with a Moscow Conservatory teacher and graduate, I moved on to College under the direction of a Juilliard graduate and teacher. My goal is to make my students as passionate about the violin as I have been. Nothing would mean more to me than seeing my students become excited and motivated about this wonderful instrument, and ultimately grow into a skilled musician. I am currently in the process of receiving my master's degree in teaching music, and look forward to developing my students into the best violinists that they can be!

I have had a regular studio of violin and piano students in the Boston area since 2006. I began teaching in 2001 in Seattle, WA. I perform regularly as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player at the Longy School of Music, in the Freisinger Chamber Orchestra, the Dorchester Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Civic Symphony Orchestra.

My primary focus in my teaching is to guide my students to becoming independent musicians, and to help them develop a thorough understanding of music. I discovered my true passion when I started playing guitar at age 13. Ever since then, I've branched out to other types of guitars (Acoustic, Electric, Sitar, Banjo, Ukulele) as well as many different genres (Rock, Blues, Hip/Hop, Metal, Classical, Reggae, Progressive, Ambient, Folk, Experimental, Punk, etc.). The importance of songwriting, melody crafting, harmonic arrangement, and lyrics came to me when I discovered the true talent of groups like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jeff Buckley, Simon & Garfunkel, and Pink Floyd.
