Mickey began drumming at age six and has been busy making music ever since. As a young kid she studied concert snare drumming and jazz drumming with Matt Gordy, and later moved on to study rock, funk, and world music with Boston legend Dean Johnston (Superhoney, Club d’Elf). She simultaneously pursued her interest in songwriting by learning to play guitar, piano, and to sing and record songs onto a 4-track tape machine. At the age of 16 she decided to get her GED instead of graduating high school, and subsequently moved to Olympia WA to attend The Evergreen State College at age 17.

While at Evergreen, Mickey studied everything from creative writing, book making/letterpress, farming, and music therapy. Her primary focus was studying the ways in which creative arts can be used as a tool for personal transformation. Through this work her interest in teaching music began to grow, and for the past three years she has been teaching private drum lessons with students of all ages....

Hello! I am a professional working drummer with over 20 years of performing and teaching experience. My current band, Eight To The Bar, has been the winner of Best Band Connecticut for the past 5 years straight. We perform internationally in many venues, including festivals, casinos, and concert halls. The repertoire is diverse and challenging, drawing on the traditions of R&B, Swing and Motown.

Hi- my name is Dylan. I've been passionate about music and teaching my whole life. I even tried teaching my little sister violin when she was 7 and I was 9. But in actual lessons I have taught piano, organ, music theory, improvisation (and even harpsichord!) to private students. I am comfortable teaching a wide variety of musical styles and a wide range of experience in students, but have been most useful to motivated students interested in classical music and improvisation.

As a musician: I'm classically trained, with a Bachelor's degree in keyboard performance from McGill University and am currently studying for my Master's in the same thing at Boston University. I have won the Concours de Musique de Canada chamber music competition 2009 with Ensemble la Félicité, and have a special love for improvisation and classical music.

Regan G. is a Boston area drum set player, percussionist, and music educator. He has a degree in Professional Music from Berklee College of Music (2009) and a Biology degree from the University of New Hampshire (2002). He has 10 years of experience teaching students of all ages and levels. Regan believes in building a strong relationship with each student over time while also considering each students preferences to make playing drums fun! When he’s not teaching he plays with an eclectic mix of bands in genres ranging from Brazilian samba, jazz, world, pop-rock, and eastern-European funk.

I started my musical journey as a kid in the elementary school band, in the low brass section. I picked up the guitar and the bass shortly thereafter. Since then, I've played guitar and bass professionally in a number of different styles, namely rock, jazz, blues, classical, and country. I've also earned a Bachelor's degree in music. I bring all that I have learned from these experiences, and my passion for music, to my teaching. My goal is to help you discover your voice on your instrument and for you to begin or continue to enjoy the process of learning music. I can help you reach your own goals and then exceed them. There is always more to learn and always room for improvement. I know this because I am a lifelong student of music myself.

I've been a full time professional musician for 13+ years and have toured all over the world performing with music icons like Chacka Khan, Beyonce, and many more. I have a lot of experience with many different styles of music and I love sharing this gift with anyone who's interested. My teaching philosophy is simple: Get students playing music! It's much easier to understand the nuts and bolts of music when put into the context of the music you like.

I've been playing the guitar for twenty-six years now, and I've been working as a guitar teacher for the last twenty years. I've been making a living as a guitar teacher in the Boston area for fourteen years now, and I teach in two locations - Brighton and Dedham. Prior to that I also taught at Guitar Attention Center in Springfield, Ohio while I was in college, where I graduated with honors at Wright State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications.
I've also played in a variety of original and cover bands, and have written a number of songs of my own. I'm working on recording these as instrumentals in my home studio.
I also play in a rock cover band called Element 78. We play out every weekend, and even on some Sundays. The singer and I have also started doing some acoustic shows on Sundays and Thursdays as well.

George has been playing guitar and bass since 1994, teaching since 1999. He has been playing the drums and piano since 2000 and has been teaching since 2005. He is a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. He also has a Masters in Music from the illustrious Duquesne University. He has played and recorded on numerous recording sessions, has played and recorded internationally and maintains a steady pulse in the local music scene. George is also a professional recording engineer, so while not in a lesson he is usually recording, editing or mixing for other clients.

I have been working with students of all ages for the past six years as a private and group lesson instructor, bandleader and clinician. At a summer camp in New York I would regularly have kids from other sections sitting in on my classes because of the creative and exciting learning environment that I create.

As a graduate of Berklee College of Music I have experienced every genre and teaching method. As a result I can shape my curriculum to the student's personal interests and preferred learning style. During lessons I take a solid foundation of music theory and technical practice and place it in context to modern musical examples, allowing students to understand the material on their own terms. I am patient, animated and I love what I do!

Though he is only 24, Bob J has been playing drums professionally for close to a decade. He has a B.M. from the New England Conservatory and a M.M. from McGill University in jazz performance. Valued for his versatility and strong sense of groove, he is quickly becoming one of the most in-demand sideman in the greater Boston area. His growing reputation in the Northeast has lead to performances with jazz legends such as Lee Kontiz and Dave Holland, as well as an international tour with a big band featuring George Garzone and Lenny Pickett. He also has a strong connection with the piano and writes music for various musical projects. He is currently a member of the house band at the Art Bar in Cambridge and leads his own group in NYC, Boston, and Montreal.

I picked up a guitar when I was eight, and I never put it down. After earning my BA in Economics at Harvard, I followed my true passion and began playing music professionally. I'm a Berklee Music College Alumn, and I did learn a lot there. My guitar heroes: Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jerry Garcia, Eric Clapton, Jimi Paige, John Lee Hooker, Duane Allman, Dicky Betts, Tony Rice, and Clarence White. I love to blaze away on guitar solos inspired by the greats, but as well as listening to my favorite guitarists, I also listen to just about everything under the sun, and appreciate all types of music. I play leads, grooves and rhythms on the guitar, but I've always also been an avid composer and vocalist, so I try never to lose sight of the bigger picture—The Song!!!
