I have been a guitar and voice instructor for over 15 years. I really love this job! I had a real hard time learning guitar when I was growing up because of an accident to my left arm, but I wanted to play so much that I was able to overcome it. Because of this I think I have learned to be a very patient teacher. I see students who get frustrated and think that it's too hard to play the guitar, but I promise you my program is fun and simple.I can show you the steps to success. I have taught over 500 students in a variety of cities from Minneapolis Minnesota, to Los Angeles California, and now Portland Oregon. I am currently obtaining my Masters in Music education and spiritual psychology from Marylhurst, and I have taught every age from 5-65. I am also a performer, and I own my own music publishing company through ASCAP (American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers). I have been playing drums since I was 10 years old. I loved playing drums so much that it became my life work. I was so advanced at an early age that I began giving lessons and teaching drum line when I was 13. I joined my first professional rock band at 15, and I have been playing and teaching music ever since.
I was fortunate to play in one the worlds top drum and bugle corps, the Santa Clara Vanguard, I also studied Jazz from the area's top jazz drummer, Dick Carlo, who was a student of Joe Morello. My technique is a unique combination of Jazz, Orchestral, and Rudimental styles. The luckiest part of my education was that I went to Lynbrook High School, which had the top concert band in the California. This is where I learned to play concert and orchestra music, and I learned about style, and musicianship.

I am a guitarist and songwriter currently living in Oregon. I graduated from Western Oregon University majoring in music, specifically pursuing the Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Music with a dual emphasis in composition/songwriting and guitar performance. I played with the Singer/Songwriter combo for most all of my college career, and emerged as one of its most valuable members. I currently play lead guitar and am the main songwriter with my band The Newscast. The Newscast is a rock band made up of mainly of music majors from WOU. The Newscast is my main musical outlet and an integral and important part of my musical career. I have studied guitar with Christopher Woitach, and I have studied Composition with Bill Whitley, Kevin Walczyk, Adam Bates and Christopher Woitach.

In the 25 years I've been teaching music, I have developed comprehensive lesson plans, relying upon material I have accumulated and created in building a massive library of diverse stylistic lesson materials from Rock to Blues and Bluegrass, Folk, Finger Style to Slide guitar. I am also well versed in Worship, CCM and Gospel styles.

My music education began with formality in Classical music. I became a professional musician very early in life, at about age 18. I gained valuable knowledge and understanding in the "real world", through experience and from fellow musicians. Along the way I continued my studies, learning music theory which, combined with my experience, gives me a very broad understanding of many musical styles - because I have played them professionally and understand them from the inside out.

I started attending music classes when I was 4, and got my first piano lesson on my 6th birthday!
I started singing in High School, and as a senior, I made it to All State Choir.
After high school, I attended and graduated from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy with a focus in musical theater.
Most recently I performed as Benny from "Rent''. Previous roles include Munkustrap from "Cats", Tulsa in "Gypsy" and Paul from "A Chorus Line."
I am always looking for ways to learn and grow, and share my knowledge as well.

I've been educated in jazz performance at Portland State University, I've studied classical voice for several years with a Julliard alum, and I have years of experience performing jazz, rock, and a little of everything else.

I have toured the country, opened up for large acts(Art Alexakis of Everclear, Ron Sexsmith), I currently play in professional symphonies(Columbia and Vancouver Symphony), write music for documentaries and commercials, and am finishing my degree in Percussion Performance at PSU. In addition to this experience, I have studied with drummers Gary Hobbs(Stan Kenton), and Sean Wagner (Cherry Poppin' Daddies"). I have been teaching privately for about 15 years now, and have students that have gone on to do amazing things in music!! Hi! My name is Danielle and I have positions open in my saxophone studio! I currently sing and play saxophone with several groups in the Portland area, teach my studio kids, and work part-time at my desk job. :) I studied saxophone performance and music education (K-12) at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (Kansas City Conservatory of Music) for 6 years. I've taught a private music studio since I was in high school in a variety of settings, including: my home studio, in music stores, and for UMKC. I placed 2nd, 4th, & then 1st at the Oregon State Solo & Ensemble Competition my last three years in high school and received a substantial music and academic scholarship from UMKC (HS Valedictorian). I've been a music camp counselor, both here in Oregon (at the coast) and abroad with an international high school jazz band. I have my math degrees from Wellesley College and Florida State University, taught classes as a grad student at FSU, and have done tutoring through the local community college as well as on an individual basis. Depending on how the student feels about math, I either try to challenge them to expand their abilities, or give them confidence in their ability to tackle math problems. The beauty of a one-on-one tutor is that lessons can be adapted to what the student needs.

I break into song before my feet touch the floor -- make a detour by the piano on the way to the shower. Starting my day with music almost guarantees that my day is more productive and is filled with joy.

My musical life started when I was 4 when my dad started teaching me piano. I played woodwind instruments from 5th grade through college. I started voice lessons when I was 16 (and wanted to get into the top high school choir). And then, at age 60, I asked myself what I most wanted to be excellent at, what would carry me through the rest of my life. I chose piano and found a top-notch teacher who took me back to square one and changed my musical life. Then--a few years later, I found a top-notch voice teacher who taught me to breathe, taught me to speak . . . and changed my life once more.

I have a love for people and different cultures so I have been learning Romanian for the past 6yr in order to reach out to the Romanian population in Portland.
