I teach students of all ages and abilities! I offer beginner through professional instruction on clarinet, beginner through intermediate instruction on saxophone and flute.
I prepare school students to NJ Regional, Area and State band auditions. All concert pieces are practiced with CD accompaniment using special audio equipment which allow to slow tempo for early stages of learning process.
My ultimate goal is to to pass all my knowledge and experience to my students, prepare them to be the fine soloists and the first chair in the school bands or symphony orchestras.

Over the last twenty years I have taught private clarinet, flute, saxophone, solfeggio and music theory lessons. The age of my students range from elementary school through mature musicians. I prepare school students to NJ Regional, Area and State band auditions.
I'm currently a principal clarinetist of the Livingston Symphony Orchestra and a co-principal of the Hanover Wind Symphony and a member of the 'A La Mode' clarinet quartet.
In the past I've played with the Kiev Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, Opera Theater in Kiev (Ukraine), Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra, Columbus, Ga Symphony Orchestra, Staten Island Symphony Orchestra and Staten Island Chamber Orchestra. I have given solo performances in Kiev Philharmonic Hall, Moscow and Tbilisi Conservatory, and was a featured soloist on "Rosell" TV show in Columbus, Ga.
I also play jazz, Klezmer and Russian music at weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, anniversaries and holiday parties throughout the tri-state area.
I am a graduate of Kiev, Ukraine Conservatory where I received my Bachelors and Masters Degree in performance and in Music Education. My main instrument is clarinet, but I also play flute, trumpet and saxophone.
I've been playing clarinet since I was 9 years old. Over the last twenty years I have taught private clarinet, flute, saxophone, solfeggio and music theory lessons. The age of my students range from elementary school through mature musicians.
I was fortunate to study clarinet from the very first day with principal clarinetist of Radio Symphony Orchestra and later with principal clarinetist of Ukrainian state Philharmonic Orchestra and principal clarinetist of the Kiev Opera Theater.
At the age of 16 I won the First Prize at the Ukrainian State Young Musicians Competition and at age of 23 I was a Top Prize (2nd) winner of the Ukrainian National Clarinet Competition.

Trumpeter and composer Mike I. grew up in New York City. Inspired by the sounds he heard throughout his youth he studied Jazz at the Conservatory of Music at SUNY Purchase where was the student of trumpet legend Jon Faddis.
Since graduating Mike has made contributions to albums by artists as diverse as The Chieftains, Vampire Weekend, Brazilian Girls, The Budos Band, and TV on the Radio. Michael has become a presence on the vibrant New York Jazz and new music scene playing in ensembles led by artists like Kenny Wollesen, Federico Ughi and David White. He also leads the Highline Jazz Quartet, a group exploring the American songbook and Jazz canon, as well as The Brooklyn Bears, a trio that plays original and improvised compositions. Mike's musical interests have led to fruitful collaborations and international tours with singer songwriters like Elvis Perkins and Jocie Adams as well as with bands including The Walkmen, The Low Anthem, and The Woes.
Mike has taught trumpet and music theory for over 15 years. His love for teaching runs parallel to his passion for performing. He has taught beginners the fundamentals of the instrument and has he has taught improvisers of all levels the basics of playing jazz and other styles of music. Inspired to bring out the best in each individual, his teaching philosophy encourages independent thought and analysis, propelling to students to become their own teachers.
Mike has taught privately since he was a student at the Conservatory of Music at Purchase College, and continued to teach young trumpeters in New York City through the Harmony Program after college. He has given master classes at Xavier High School and has been a clinician at The Talkeetna Jazz Workshop in Alaska, an effort funded by Chamber Music America that resulted in three summers of successful workshops.

Christian D. has been playing saxophone for fourteen years. He attended Churchville-Chili High School and attempted to take every music class his school had to offer. He was always very involved in his school'¬¬ôs music program. He took private lessons with Mr. Terry Bacon (a graduate from Eastman School of Music) for eight years before going to college. He just completed his BM in Music Education and Saxophone Performance at SUNY Fredonia. There he studied classical with Dr. Wildy Zumwalt and jazz with Bruce Johnstone.
Christian has been in many elite bands since the start of his career as a musician. He has participated in the Roberts Wesleyan Honors Band, Hochstein School of Music Junior Wind Symphony, All-County Band, and New York Area All State band, as well as performing as a soloist for the All-County orchestra his junior year in high school.
Christian has received many awards to merit his efforts in music. Some of these include the Eastman Award given to high school juniors who plan to major in music and who excel above others in school. He also received a $200 scholarship for his jazz-playing ability from the Independence Jazz reunion.
At Fredonia, Christian was involved in everything the music program had to offer. He participated in major ensembles, a saxophone quartet, saxophone ensemble, a big band, and a jazz sax combo, in addition to his regular course load. He was a founding member of the Bogus on Temple Blues Band that actively played in the Fredonia area for a year and a half. He is also a member of the musical fraternity of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
Now that his BM is completed, Christian is pursuing his Masters in Jazz performance at New Jersey City University. There he studies with Bob Malach and Joel Weiskopf. He is actively playing gigs in the New York City and suburban area while at school. When he is home he plays with Nik Entertainment Co. and other various groups in the Western New York area, including Night Trane, a jazz combo he helped found.

I like to cater my lessons to the students' wants and needs. I suggest various exercises to study in effort to make each student reach their fullest potential. I push each and every one of my students, regardless of their goals as a musician.

Michael T. DeFilippis (b. 1991) is an educator, composer, and arranger from Long Island, New York. Michael received his Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from LIU Post. During his tenure at LIU Post, he studied composition and orchestration with renowned educational composer Carl Strommen, trumpet with Brad Siroky, and conducting with Dr. James McRoy. Michael has had a number of works commissioned from him for ensembles like the LIU Post Wind Symphony and Manhattan School of Music Precollege Brass Ensemble, among other community and public school groups.
In 2011, Michael served as a composer-in-residence with the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Brass Ensemble, and again in 2012 with the Candlewood Middle School 6th Grade Band in Dix Hills, NY. In the summer of 2012, the LIU Post Wind Symphony commissioned a work from him, entitled “Big Sky Country,” which received its world premiere at the John Philip Sousa Memorial Band Shell in Port Washington, New York. The work was then taken on tour and performed overseas in Beijing and Xi’an, China.
Michael is a winner of two awards from the Global Music Awards (2012) for his works “Big Sky Country,” in the ‘composition’ category and for “Inner City Sounds” in the ‘student band’ category. He continues to write music for educational purposes, and currently lists his music on major distributor websites like JWPepper.

A native Long Islander, Brad is a passionate and dedicated musician who loves sharing the joy and fulfillment of music with as many people as he can. Graduating from The State University of New York at Potsdam's Crane School of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education in 2010, Brad continued his studies and served as a graduate assistant at the University of Louisville, where he earned a Master of Music degree in Trumpet Performance in 2012. While in Louisville, Brad enjoyed an active freelance teaching and performing career, serving as a teaching artist in many public and private schools. A world traveler, Brad has performed in over a dozen countries as a leader with the Long Island Youth Orchestra and loves exploring the music of world cultures. Additionally, Brad has enjoyed several performances at Carnegie Hall, most recently as Assistant Principal Trumpet of the National Collegiate Wind Ensemble in 2009, under the baton of H. Robert Reynolds. Since returning to New York in early 2013, Brad has enjoyed performing and teaching in the Greater New York City Area with the Brooklyn Wind Symphony and looks forward to working with and helping students reach their musical goals.
Minneapolis native Omar has been playing trumpet ! since the early age of 14 months. His father and master trumpeter Ahmed was his first teacher. Omar holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from the renowned New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. He has shared the stage with Roy Hargrove, Redman, Method Man, KRS-ONE and Talib Kweli to mention a few. Omar has also had the pleasure of performing with Nicholas Payton's Television Studio Orchestra and Valerie Ponomarev's Big Band. Omar has written and recorded with the likes of Lauryn Hill and Jose James. His quintet previously held a year long residency at New York’s Premier Rooftop at the Standard Hotel. He frequently performs at some of the city’s top jazz venues including the Blue Note, Birdland, Smalls and Fat Cat. ! His Influences include: Fats Navarro, Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw, John Coltrane and Lee Morgan. Omar is currently composing new music for his upcoming album and offering personalized instruction for promising trumpet students.
