I grew up in a small town in Idaho and always had a dream of being able to sing. Because of excellent teachers who loved and cared about me I have been able to accomplish that dream, and now I am excited to help you reach your dream! After receiving a masters degree from The Eastman School of Music in Vocal Performance and Literature, I moved back to Idaho to teach at a local University and I was hooked on teaching! I loved seeing students progress and accomplish their goals. I worked mostly with female classical singers, but also taught some musical theater students ranging in age from 10 to 40 years old. All of my students were able to improve, especially those who practiced. All were able to extend their range and agility and smooth out the rough spots in their voices! I am so excited to start teaching in a new area of the country and look forward to the new voices I get to work with.

Mickey began drumming at age six and has been busy making music ever since. As a young kid she studied concert snare drumming and jazz drumming with Matt Gordy, and later moved on to study rock, funk, and world music with Boston legend Dean Johnston (Superhoney, Club d’Elf). She simultaneously pursued her interest in songwriting by learning to play guitar, piano, and to sing and record songs onto a 4-track tape machine. At the age of 16 she decided to get her GED instead of graduating high school, and subsequently moved to Olympia WA to attend The Evergreen State College at age 17.

While at Evergreen, Mickey studied everything from creative writing, book making/letterpress, farming, and music therapy. Her primary focus was studying the ways in which creative arts can be used as a tool for personal transformation. Through this work her interest in teaching music began to grow, and for the past three years she has been teaching private drum lessons with students of all ages....

I've been playing the guitar for twenty-six years now, and I've been working as a guitar teacher for the last twenty years. I've been making a living as a guitar teacher in the Boston area for fourteen years now, and I teach in two locations - Brighton and Dedham. Prior to that I also taught at Guitar Attention Center in Springfield, Ohio while I was in college, where I graduated with honors at Wright State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications.
I've also played in a variety of original and cover bands, and have written a number of songs of my own. I'm working on recording these as instrumentals in my home studio.
I also play in a rock cover band called Element 78. We play out every weekend, and even on some Sundays. The singer and I have also started doing some acoustic shows on Sundays and Thursdays as well.

Robert B., classical guitarist, has been performing and teaching classical guitar since the 1990’s. He earned his teacher’s certificate and performer’s certificate at the “Conservatorium van Maastricht” (Netherlands) and came to Boston, to study with Eliot Fisk at New England Conservatory. Robert has also participated in many masterclasses given by internationally-renowned artists such as Pepe Romero, David Russell, Abel Carlevaro and Alexander Frauchi.

Robert performs regularly as a soloist or in collaboration with piano, violin, flute or voice in programs ranging from classical opera arias to contemporary compositions dedicated to his piano guitar duo.

I have had a regular studio of violin and piano students in the Boston area since 2006. I began teaching in 2001 in Seattle, WA. I perform regularly as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player at the Longy School of Music, in the Freisinger Chamber Orchestra, the Dorchester Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Civic Symphony Orchestra.

My primary focus in my teaching is to guide my students to becoming independent musicians, and to help them develop a thorough understanding of music. Lessons include learning about music theory, sight reading, performance skills and technique. I have a thorough understanding of pedagogy and a true passion for teaching students of all ages.

Sophia was born in Moscow, Russian. During her childhood she was raised in Siberia, where she received her first violin lessons at age 6. Violin lessons were not the only lesson that was twice a week, she also received private piano, music literature, music history, theory and dance. Sophia's parents encouraged her to learn everything about classical music because they themselves were successful musicians with awards. This is how Sophia's musical journey began with love for music and patience for hard work.

After graduating music school in Moscow, Russia, Sophia moved to Anchorage, AK, where she had her first professional job as the musician in Anchorage symphony orchestra at age 15. At that moment she realized that music was her destiny and that nothing would make her give up her precious instrument.

I began taking both voice and piano lessons at the age of 11, after years of sitting outside my older sisters’ clarinet lessons and wishing to study music, myself. I fell in love with music at my very first lesson, and knew that it was what I would do with my life. While still in high school, I began teaching, spending my summers teaching music at a children's arts camp. I went on to attend New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where I received my Bachelor of Music in vocal performance. I have experience teaching piano to students ranging from 4-year-old beginners to experienced adults, and my voice students have ranged from novices to conservatory-bound high-school seniors. I currently live in Roslindale, MA, and am available to teach both in my home studio and in students' homes in the Roslindale/Jamaica Plain/West Roxbury area.

I have been playing the bass guitar and guitar for about fifteen years, where I have specialized in Funk, Funk-Rock, Alternative Rock, and Reggae. The bass guitar is my primary instrument, as I currently play in a Funk-Rock group that has performance experience in New Orleans and Boston.

Hello! I am a professional working drummer with over 20 years of performing and teaching experience. My current band, Eight To The Bar, has been the winner of Best Band Connecticut for the past 5 years straight. We perform internationally in many venues, including festivals, casinos, and concert halls. The repertoire is diverse and challenging, drawing on the traditions of R&B, Swing and Motown.

I'm a Berklee graduate with a focus on drum set. In addition, I've spent over 15 years living and researching West African Rhythms/dance and can play many genres of music from the region.

I've been teaching privately in the Newton area for the past 8 years and taught absolute beginners to advanced drummers; from 5 to professionals.

George has been playing guitar and bass since 1994, teaching since 1999. He has been playing the drums and piano since 2000 and has been teaching since 2005. He is a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. He also has a Masters in Music from the illustrious Duquesne University. He has played and recorded on numerous recording sessions, has played and recorded internationally and maintains a steady pulse in the local music scene. George is also a professional recording engineer, so while not in a lesson he is usually recording, editing or mixing for other clients.

In 2012, I graduated from Brandeis University with a degree in Music. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with highest honors in music. I also received the Reiner Prize in 2010 and 2011, an award for the best student composition of that year. I'm currently pursuing an M.F.A in Music Composition/Theory at Brandeis, which I will complete in the spring of 2014. Additionally, I've had the chance to study individually with world renowned composers: Melinda Wagner (winner of the 1999 Pulitzer Prize in music), David Rakowski, Eric Chasalow, and Yu-hui Chang. Over the past 5 years, I've had consistent private composition lessons with these 4 teachers. They've filled me with their wisdom, and I want to pass it on to you.
