I have been playing drums since the age of 4. Music has been an important part of my life as far back as I can remember!

I joined the school band in the 4th grade and continued learning through my senior year . School band gave allowed me to learn technique for a variety of percussion instruments. It also got me involved in marching band.

I my senior year I joined my first band playing locally in the Detroit area clubs. I have continued to play and perform over the years with a number of bands playing all over Michigan, Canada, Ohio and Pennsylvania. I have also spent a lot of time in the recording studios with my own bands and laying down drum and vocal tracks for a number of other Detroit area musicians.

At 19, I started to teach private drum lessons. I have continued to teach over the years to students of all ages. I have also hosted several local Drum Jams / Drum recitals featuring many of my drum student.

I love teaching, simply love teaching! I teach students of all ages. I teach piano, voice, clarinet, and saxophone. I have taught for over 25 years. My students have lots of opportunities for performance, if they choose to. We perform at Nursing Homes, Retirements, Festival of Trees, and Seasonal Recitals. There are at least 2 recitals a year, 1 at Christmas and 1 in the Spring, if enough participation, we often have one in summer with a party afterward. We also participate in the Michigan Music Association competition. I have also had students perform in Disney World in Florida!!! I have been in many musicals such as Annie, Gypsy, Rock Around the Clock. I have put on solo recitals. I am a member of my church choir. My students and I have fun while we are learning music! It is the best job ever.

I've been playing guitar for 41 years and bass for 30 years. I've held many seminars for Crate Amps, and a lot of recitals. I've been teaching for 31 years. I've done lots of group lessons at the School of Rock. This was very great experience. I'm currently teach at the Roseville, MI rec center group lessons. I studied with a guitar teacher for a year so I know my theory!

My name is Erin, and I'm a professional brass instrumentalist and singer who has been gigging and teaching lessons in the metro area for more than ten years.

I was classically trained in music performance and pedagogy at Wayne State University, with a focus on French horn performance and a secondary focus in classical singing. I am a current member of the horn section of the Lake St. Clair Symphony Orchestra.

I am looking forward to helping students of all ages and skills grow in their knowledge of drumming and percussion. I have worked with students from 7 years old up to 65. I will bring my learned skills from my Music Education Degree from WMU and my graduate degree in Percussion Pedagogy from MSU to assist all students to improve on their abilities. I have been a member of the International Percussive Arts Society since 1991. Recognized for my abilities I have been made a member of the Vic Firth Education Team and the Guild of Professional Drum Teachers; and I have been called on to judge percussion and full music programs for such organizations as DCI, BOA, USSBA, WGI Indoor Percussion and many local band and percussion circuits around the country. Early grade students and school teachers, fun loving hobbyists and professional musicians all have called on me for support and knowledge. I have been playing guitar for 25 years. I took formal guitar lessons for seven years, have won numerous awards locally and nationally, and have been a professional musician for most of my life. I have studied music theory elaborately, was accepted to both the Berklee School of Music in Boston and the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles. I choose to start on a musical career immediately after high school; and did so in my hometown of Detroit. I play/teach, have written, performed, and recorded everything from classic/ indie rock, jazz, classical, flamenco, etc. I currently front my own indie rock project "The Static Dial", as guitarist/vocalist/songwriter.

Children don't learn to read before they can talk. So why should anyone have to read before they can play? That is how music is taught, traditionally and why a huge percentage of students just quit or have a miserable time with piano lessons. Music should be fun. Period.

My name is Matthew! I have fifteen years of guitar and drums, a decade of piano and eight years in voice, as well as over ten years of performing live in front of audiences. I am employed as a 'for-hire' guitarist for nationally touring acts, and have worked for both major and independent recording labels; Ferret, and Warner Media to name a few.

I teach all styles of guitar, as I have been in many different types of music situations: Soloist (Classical) Ensemble (Classical and Jazz) Lead and Rhythm (Various Rock and Roll bands) Songwriting and Recording. I am a people person that learned the guitar from many different sources. Most of my learning came from watching others and communicating with others. I like to learn about the people I am teaching so that I can better understand their needs as a musician. My education came as a practical necessity in order to get better as a teacher and performer, as well as make a living doing it. But, by no means do I preach the need to be "educated" to be a working, practical musician. This can scare people off. My musical experience started with piano lessons at age 9, and I continued for 6 years. I loved lessons, and excelled at reading music, which was a great advantage as I progressed. In High School, a friend connected me with the band director, who was looking for someone that could read music, and there I played bass clarinet in the symphonic band. This was my first exposure to a large group,, where I developed a significant appreciation for other instruments, as well as playing in an ensemble and following a director.

After graduation, I started playing piano professionally with bands and other ensembles, in a wide variety of venues, places and events. I am a guitarist of over 20 years and have played an instrument since I was six years old. I went to college for jazz and classical guitar to expand upon my rock and blues influence. Having first taken piano lessons at six years old, I added tenor saxophone at 10, and guitar at 14. I have 20 years of playing live in a band or for theater work. I believe a musician can learn from all instruments and I try to not just teach guitar, but music.
