Music Director of the Chicago Philharmonia Orchestra since 1985, Farobag has also served as Managing Director of the University of Chicago’s Performing Artists Series from 1989 through 2002 and principal conductor of its resident professional ensembles. A skilled interpreter of Baroque literature as well, Farobag continues in his capacity as Artistic Advisor to the Baroque Masterplayers, a virtuoso ensemble that concatenates period performance techniques with modern instruments thus creating a unique voice within the realm of 17th and 18th- century repertoire.
A double graduate of the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, Farobag studied under Anastasia Jempelis, a pioneer of Suzuki violin pedagogy in the United States.
Befitting his penchant for encouraging artistic interest amongst younger members of his community, Farobag is also the principal conductor of the Zoroastrian Symphony Orchestra that offers a unique mixture of young and seasoned professionals sitting side-by-side in a strictly professional setting. Since the year 2000, the ZSO has staged highly successful performances at various venues in Houston, Chicago, and Toronto.
Having also taken graduate-level coursework in educational psychology, mathematics, and philosophy at the University of Chicago, Farobag offers tutelage in various areas of elementary and secondary education as well as in SAT, ACT and GRE test preparation for the mathematics sector.

I received a MM in voice performance from Chicago College of Performing Arts, Roosevelt University in 2009 and since then I have been performing and teaching in the Chicagoland area. I am also involved with multiple opera outreach companies that brings condensed adaptations of operas to elementary school throughout the midwest because I am very passionate about introducing kids to classical music at an early age. But aside from opera I feel comfortable teaching all genres of music and believe that you can sing anything if you are grounded in a healthy singing technique. I also have experience teaching piano, drama and musical theater. And I love working with kids!

I am a singer/songwriter based out of Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in 2008 with a degree in Vocal Performance and Theatre, I began performing on Cruise Ships with some fellow IU Straight No Chaser alums. I then switched over to perform as a solo guitarist/vocalist onboard the ships for 4 years. My dad was the choir director at our church for 30 years, which is where I got my start, and eventually I took over the youth choir programs and directed 3 choirs grades K-12. While my focus in college was classical vocal training, I was raised on musical theatre, and now write pop music. I believe there is a proper way to sing, and it can be applied to any and all voice styles. I have conducted seminars through Hart and Henry Talent Agency to help singers cross from more traditional musical theatre styles to the more current pop/rock musicals that are taking broadway by storm. I love to work with the students to achieve the goals set forth, and enjoy this wonderful gift of music!

I started my journey with singing in high school by participating in the school musicals and different choir ensembles. When I got to college I started taking private lessons and music classes for fun until I realized this is my passion. Then I started my journey with really learning the voice as an instrument and how it works. I am a vocal scientist at heart believing you will go a long way as long as you know how to grow.
I then went on to get my degree at VanderCook College of Music where they teach nothing but music education so I was able to learn all the band and orchestral instruments on top regular classes and voice lessons. I took the time to study privately with our percussion professor to learn rhythms and with our sight singing and ear training professor to further develop my ear and knowledge. All in all I have been studying the voice for seven years and counting. I do all this so that I could pass that experience down to you.

I have bachelors and masters degrees in voice performance and will complete a doctorate in musical arts from the University of Arizona in 2013. For the past 12 years, I have been a NATS member and also served as a board member in Phoenix for 2 years. I love to share my singing knowledge with students ages 11 & up. My favorite teaching experiences have been helping middle school & high school students improve their singing skills, preparing them for roles in musicals, competitions & college auditions in one-on-one private lessons, and working with my college voice group class! I am a fifth-generation Alaskan (my great-great grandfather was a Goldrusher to Nome), enthusiastic runner, cyclist, camper and kayaker. If it has to do with adventure or the outdoors, I am probably out there doing it!
A few years ago, I had the opportunity to perform in Europe as a soloist with conductor Edoardo Müller and the American Institute of Musical Studies Festival Orchestra, where my voice was described as, "steel, wrapped in velvet..." While there, I also represented the U.S.A. as a presenter at an international music conference in Paris. What a truly humbling and incredible experience! In America, my operatic stage credits have included Sylvaine (The Merry Widow), Suzel (L'Amico Fritz), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) and the title role in Puccini’s Suor Angelica.
As a concert artist, I've entertained audiences of the St.Charles Singers, Tucson Symphony, Scottsdale Musical Arts, Scottsdale Symphony Orchestra and Anchorage Civic Orchestra with expressive singing of sacred and oratorio works. While a veteran soloist of Handel's Messiah, I am pleased to have recently added St. John Passion (J.S. Bach) and the Misa Criola (Ramírez) to my solo credits in 2011. Some of my other favorite guest appearances have included Rutter's Requiem and a performance of Mozart's Exultate jubilate with orchestra celebrating my win at the CSUN Concerto Competition in Los Angeles.
In vocal competitions, I've been recognized several times including those hosted by the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the University of Arizona, Southern Arizona Opera Guild, and Elgin Opera Company. I am an alumni of Ann Baltz's OperaWorks program, the American Institute of Musical Studies, the Bel Canto Institute, a Philanthropic Education Organization Women's Scholar Award Nominee, and recipient of the CSUN Graduate Fellowship.

I love everything about teaching! I love music; it is my life. I sleep, breathe and dream music. I am a Columbia University Chicago graduate; I graduated with a degree in Music with a concentration in Classical Voice. I have performed in numerous operas and musicals, as well as, sung on Gospel Cruises all around the world. In my eyes, the student is the main focus so whatever issues, concerns or request the student may have I will treat them with priority. I am all about strengthening the natural born talent and making my students the best vocalist they can be. I'm here to serve the students and that is what I will do until they are confident in their gift...music.
