About Taryn

A graduate of Berklee College of Music, I have been writing songs since I learned to sing. At a young age I began to play piano and violin, training in both the classical and pop genres. I have been teaching piano lessons since I was 15 years old, when my own teacher had taken on more students than she could handle. Over the years, I have developed a passion and dedication for teaching music. I love to watch my students grow, and am elated to see the pleasure it brings to their own lives. Music is truly the universal language, and everyone should learn to speak it, in whatever form they desire. I am adept at finding my students weaknesses, and making it their strengths. After graduating college, I relocated to Brooklyn, where I opened my own private music studio, "Taryn's ...

She is nothing but kind, and extraordinarily helpful! Although I have only played violin for a short while, and have had just a handful of lessons, I have already seen myself making huge strides. That's all because of Esther's guidance. She really caters to your needs and goals, guiding you to build a strong foundation in theory and technique. If you're considering Esther as your teacher, I strongly recommend you taking the plunge. She is everything I could have wished for in a violin instructor and more. Thanks Esther!!

best teacher I have ever had

I studied with other teachers in the past. What separates Armen from others is his passion, patience and professionalism when it comes to teaching violin. He makes something as complicated as playing the violin simple and fun. He analyzes the weaknesses and the strengths of the student and tailors a suitable program for the student to excel. In addition, he brings so much culture and flavor to his style of teaching, this from playing in world renowned orchestras and groups such as Yanni and others. He is by far the best teacher I have ever had.
Megan M. Encino, CA

I teach the Suzuki method, but I also like to incorporate different styles of violin music as well, including fiddling and Celtic. I also teach music theory and how to read music. After the first lesson, I'll come up with a customized lesson plan to keep you or your child engaged and inspired to keep playing!

I also have worked with various professional children's theatre companies and run my own touring theatre company. I have been a Zumba instructor since 2011 and I have been a swimming instructor/lifeguard since 2003. *** Lesson Details *** I believe that learning anything new should be a fun experience. If it's not fun then you're more likely to get frustrated and quit. My teaching philosophy is that I want to know what inspires you and create lessons that will keep you or your children interested and having fun. I offer 30 and 45 minute lessons. During the first lesson we will figure out a personalized lesson ...

Great teacher to learn!

Megan is great to learn with. I play other instruments but I wanted to start learning the piano and how to read music. She was very patient and really enforced the importance of getting into the habit of practicing, even if it's just 15 minutes a day! I highly recommend her for piano beginner adults and children.

Patient, communicative and fun!

I played the violin years ago and decided to pick it back up again. Megan was very patient and was very communicative with how to help me. She also came up with very fun ways to keep me practicing. She worked very well with me as an adult but I've also seen her teach very young children and her patience and creative teaching shines with the young ones as well! If you're looking for a personable, fun teacher that inspires, Megan is the teacher for you.
Brian B. Sunland, CA

I majored in violin performance and studied with the best Russian violin teachers. I have had decades of professional playing experience on the violin.

About Brian

I studied music; violin performance, at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore. I majored on violin and minored on piano. I then spent many years playing and performing professionally in many groups. I played in groups like the Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra and other modern music and classical groups. Since I also like to compose, I picked up many other styles and learned a few other instruments. I taught music for over twenty years, being active in the Music Teacher's Association and serving as string judge for the Certificate of Merit several years running. I teach with the principle that anyone can learn anything that is given in the right gradient and this is what really makes learning music enjoyable; not learning a lot of worthless shortcuts but being able to play well ...

I highly recommend Brian as a violin teacher. Brian has proven to be an excellent instructor, teacher and coach. He professionally and gently pointed out areas where I could make improvements, and showed me how to do it. He has great patience and a very effective way of communicating with me.
He is a violinist and a pianist and is expert at both which really enhances my lesson experience.
