I started playing guitar after I realized that the trumpet (my first instrument), besides only being able to play one note at a time, was just not as sexy & cool as the “six stringed siren of the 60's & 70's”.
After 2 years of playing I started teaching guitar in a local Toledo OH area music store on the day of my 16th birthday, and soon expanded to students spread over two stores and and my home.
My first "road gig" at the end of my senior year in high school was playing with old time 50′s rockers “Johnny & The Hurricanes” (who the Beatles actually opened for a couple of times), and then I left to study at Boston’s Berklee College of Music for two years at 19.
After Berklee and a few years of playing all over Canada in show bands, theatre, etc. while based out of Toronto, I moved to Los Angeles to finish up my guitar studies at Musician’s Institute. While a student, I was voted the first Outstanding Guitarist of the year by the teaching staff, and then hired as staff instructor; which included writing both curriculum as well as ensemble arrangements for the then fledgling school. During my stay at MI I had the good fortune to play and teach with amazing guitarists like Joe Diorio, Don Mock, Scott Henderson, Frank Gambale, Robben Ford, and many more. Co-instructor Steve Trovato arranged for me to write and record for the Hot Licks series with Steve Freeman and Norman Brown, which is still distributed by Hal Leonard Publications.
Besides live work in Los Angeles, I have focused on composing and producing music for film & TV in recent years, and I have about 500 tracks that are heard daily around the world on everything from shows like Sponge Bob Squarepants to Justified, as well as many feature films. Although I'm a “well rounded player” in most every style, I specializes in modern rock, jazz and blues, as well as solo acoustic guitar playing.
BTW, the picture of me with the tall skinny guy in the white shirt is the actor who played "Uncle Ricco" in the movie "Napoleon Dynamite" when he came over to buy some gear I was selling on Craig's list.

Music has been my passion since I was very young.
Started off as a member of the church Junior choir and then went on to take my first piano class in the first grade.
Come high school, I was already joining rock bands as a pianist and a lead singer.
Took up the guitar in December 1990.
Since then I have been playing in amateur and professional bands, occasionally doing studio work for demos, soundtracks and tv commercials, while going to the UST Conservatory of Music.
I have also been teaching for the Yamaha School of Music since 92-93, and through all the gigs, shows, concerts, studios and stages I've performed in--I know that teaching teh next generation of musicians has always been my calling.
With my teaching experience, I can say that I've dealt with all the different kinds of personalities that a student would have. As much as we all have unique character traits, I believe that every student has a unique approach to learning that when you tap into it, you will have a student that have great motivation and eagerness to learn their instrument.
My youngest student was a girl named Piper( who happens to be one of the child actors in the Disney Movie G-Force ). She said she wanted to be a triple threat. An Actress, a musician and a singer.
She was able to play Twist and Shout from the Beatles by her 3rd lesson on guitar.
Guitar being my main instrument, I have also learned over the years how to play the bass and drums. So you won't just be learning how to play your instrument but you will learn how your instrument would interact with the other instruments when you play in a band together.
My philosophy is once you learn the basics, you will be able to fly and ride on your creativity. And there will be no limits.

Hi, I'm Glenn. Thank you for viewing my profile. I've been teaching students for over 20 years, playing all styles and levels of music, from day-one beginners to seasoned pros seeking to sharpen their playing skills. I teach both traditional notation and tablature, writing my own teaching methods in both formats. I can transcribe any song or solo for you, and can arrange the music to fit your particular level of skill.
I earned a B.A. in Music Composition and an A.A. in music theory, and have worked as a professional musician since graduation. I play in a variety of bands that cover rock, jazz, surf, oldies, and country, and also write and arrange music for those bands as well as writing my own music that can be heard on my own Youtube channel.
The first song I learned to play was "Pipeline." I own and play several acoustic and electric guitars, as well as ukuleles, mandolins, bass guitars, and lap steel guitars. I'm personable and patient, and my lessons include songs, techniques, and instruction for improving your musical skills. I look forward to meeting you and having fun learning and playing music together.

Music and teaching are my two life passions. I have been teaching music for over 10 years and playing for over 15. I was born and raised in Southern California and attended Newport Harbor High School. Upon graduating, I attended Berklee College of Music in Boston where I studied Guitar and Music Business.
After graduating from Berklee, I received my Early Childhood Teacher Certification and worked as both a preschool and toddler teacher in addition to teaching music lessons. I am experienced with all age levels from the youngest children to the oldest adults. I make learning music a fun and enjoyable experience for everyone!

Cory M (MA, Music) is passionate about music performance and creation. In 9th grade, Cory traded in his surfboard for a bass guitar and never looked back. Playing bass in a band lead to songwriting, and songwriting turned into a Bachelor’s degree in music with an emphasis in composition. Fascinated by the complexities of the musical experience, Cory went on to earn his Masters Degree in music with an emphasis in music history and theory.
As a multi-instrumentalist, Cory has performed live and in the studio as a bassist, drummer, guitarist, and vocalist in a variety of acts since 1992. As a songwriter, Cory has written hundreds of songs in several different genres for bands and personal projects. He has also worked as a composer/songwriter on a few music industry projects and continues to pursue songwriting personally and professionally.
With over 10-years of teaching experience, Cory daily helps teens and adults learn how to play and create music. His current “day job” is teaching recording, songwriting, music production, and general music (instruments, theory, etc.) at a private high school, where he helps teens realize their creative ambitions in sound.

I have a very unique musical background compared to other guitarists. My first instrument was alto saxophone in middle school. I played it through high school and a bit in college. After I graduated high school I taught myself guitar and drum set. I also spent 5 years in drum and bugle corps on trumpet and euphonium. As part of my studies I also learned keyboard. This means my perspective and experience in music is different than other guitar teachers. There are many concepts I have learned from other instruments that I can pass down to students.
"Steven is very professional and extremely helpful. He always has a smile on and is serious about helping you phrase the music. I would highly recommend him to anyone."
"It's been really exciting so far! Jordan has been so helpful, so knowledgeable. I could not have found a better instructor and I'm getting better and better every day."
"My daughter's wedding was weeks away and I had never been able to dance a step. With Jenny's help, I came further than ever before in such short time in any subject."
