I've been teaching piano, cello, voice and theory in Los Angeles for over thirty years, helping students develop their particular interests in music and to encourage them to reach their personal goals. I love the classics and many of my students want to play popular music, contemporary sounds and jazz and that is fine too. I received my BA in music at UCLA and a Master's at Cal State Northridge. I conduct vocal and bell choirs, run a concert series, play chamber music, sing in a band and teach in the Community College District in addition to running my private studio.

I have played in a variety of musicals and various college orchestras and chamber groups. Because of my approach to music I don't consider classical my forte but I can still teach any student cellist a great amount about beginning to advanced playing in any style - including classical.
I am also comfortable playing a variety of styles on the cello, namely jazz.
I have been happily playing music for over half of my life and it has always been the light in my day. Now it is my hope to shed that same light onto you or your child. I am a very friendly and fun teacher with a great deal of professionalism and patience, even more importantly I love teaching and music with a passion.
I have been playing an instrument since the 4th grade (cello) and, as I learned how music works, was slowly able to pick-up a greater variety instruments with an increasing degree of ease. In high school, I decided to pick-up the guitar just to "have fun and rock out". I joined a band, played in the high school orchestra, joined the high school jazz band and began to practice songwriting and cover songs. Still, it was not until after I took my first class on ...

I started playing cello at the age of 10 and have been an avid player ever since. I have participated in numerous camps and festivals around the world and believe that playing music leads to fantastic friendships and personal growth.
As a classically trained cellist, I use classical fundamentals to teach students proper technique alongside a passion for incorporating cello into their daily lives. Recently, I have been playing electric cello with different music groups in different styles and have recorded with rock, math-rock, indie, folk and hip-hop artists.
My main goal is to show students how much fun playing music can be and how cello can be used in classical and non-classical settings. A lot of my students have loved learning how to play along with their favorite music! ...
My degree is in cello performance and I have been teaching cello since I was a student myself!
