I began playing percussion at the age of 11 because for some reason at the middle school I was attending it was the "cool thing" to do. At 12 years old my father gave me his old Tama swingstar drum set and since then I haven't got off a drum throne. At 13 years I had the opportunity to perform with my middle school concert band at the world famous Carnegie Hall. I continued pursuing my music career in high school by taking private lessons while participating in the high school drumline and jazz band. Most of my experience comes from non stop gigging. I have played hundreds of shows and along the way while talking to other drummers, I have picked up several techniques that will help you stand out on stage. While my constant home training and schooling has taught me how to be great in studio situations.

I started playing music around the Kansas City area twenty five years ago. I graduated from The University of Southern California with a degree in studio/jazz guitar (cum laude). While at USC, I received a merit scholarship and an award for professional leadership and service within her department. I also graduated with honors from Musicians Institute (GIT), of Hollywood, CA.

I have toured the U.S. and Canada playing venues such as The Portland Rose Festival, The Playboy Jazz Festival, The Santa Monica Twilight Concert Series, Irvine Lake Blues Festival,The Burnaby British Columbia Blues Festival and the Long Beach Blues Festival. The headliners at these events included Robben Ford, The Neville Brothers, and Johnny Winter.

I am a brass, voice and percussion artist and teacher, local to the Whittier area, specializing in many styles such as Classical, Jazz, and Pop. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Tuba Performance from CSU Sacramento and I am currently pursuing my master's degree in tuba performance at Azusa Pacific University. Hi! My name is Al! I've been playing drums for about 11 years now, I started playing at the age of 12 when my parents bought me my first drum set. Since then drumming has been my life, everything from playing in numerous bands, drum competitions, private teaching, and National US Tours. Leaving my home town of Brownsville, TX behind, I moved out to L.A Summer of 2008 to attend the Los Angeles Music Academy, where I received my Associates Degree in Music Performance. I currently teach private lessons and I gig around town with various artists. I have lots of musical knowledge that Iv'e obtained by studying with LA's Top Drummers. I have been a student of the drums myself for 17 years. I started like many musicians have, learning to play a musical instrument in the school orchestra. I picked up some drum sticks and haven't put them down since. My favorite styles of music are funk and rock. I have studied orchestral drumming, drumset, and music theory for 2 years at the university level. I love to teach and finding ways of making drumming easy to understand. I currently play with 2 bands and record whenever an opportunity arises.
