Tom achieved his Associates of the Arts Degree in 1996 from Dean College of Franklin, Massachusetts. He has a combined professional teaching and performance career that spans over twenty years. A member of the drama club throughout college and a student of Jazz Performance; Tom has had plenty of experience within the walls of auditoriums and theaters.

Tom was previously a member of Boston’s original band “Central Basement.” Some of Central Basement’s accomplishments include: opening for teen-pop sensation Avril Lavigne with an audience of 3,000+ people (Orpheum Theater, Boston 2003); making the Top 30 Countdown for their single “Turn” in 2002 (the only unsigned band to ever receive airplay on Boston’s KISS 108); achieving the “Hall of Fame” status by two original songs remaining the #1 and #2 downloads for several week on the Boston.com homepage; and performing for the Summer Special Olympics (2001, 2003).

Learning guitar should be interesting and fun! While we're studying all the different aspects of the instrument, you'll also be learning how to play your favorite songs and solos! I approach each student as an individual and structure their lessons according to what I determine they need, as well as what they are interested in musically. I concentrate on many different areas; ear training, theory, playing technique, improvisation, various styles of music, and, the physics of the guitar. Understanding how the instrument works is important in my opinion. My long term goal is to teach a student how they can teach themselves down the line. Understanding why you’re playing something is just important as knowing how to play it. I aim to give a student rich and well rounded one-on-one time!

Hi! My name is Barry and I have been teaching for over 10 years in the Fairfield County, CT area. I have had success teaching all ages, styles and abilities, from the most gifted to the physically impaired. I grew up listening to a tremendously wide range of music, and have studied classical flute, rock, jazz and classical guitar, and even the japanese shakuhachi, with some of the great minds of the instruments. I graduated high honors from Queens College with a Masters' in composition, and have had works performed by major acts in the contemporary classical scene. I have been working with children since the age of nineteen, starting off as a counselor in a day camp and eventually as a summer camp music specialist. After college I started a music teaching career, teaching in public and private schools. For the past fourteen years I have taught private lessons in drums, guitar, and piano as well as doing preschool music performances at local libraries.

My career as a musician goes back even further than my teaching career. I have been playing drums in bands since early high school and have been playing professionally since the age of twenty. I have played with blues legend Joe Louis walker and many local professional bands.

Paul is a guitarist/songwriter/educator from Branford, CT. He began playing the guitar at age 13 with a strong background in piano. He performed and recorded with bands in high school, during which time he was influenced by a wide variety of musical artists and styles, including Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Pink Floyd.

Paul enrolled at Boston's Berklee College of Music in the fall of 1994 and discovered a love for jazz, particularly guitarists such as Joe Pass and Tal Farlow and arrangers Nelson Riddle and Gil Evans. At Berklee, Paul continued to study the guitar while working toward a Bachelor of Music degree in Contemporary Writing and Production, which he received in 1998.

After graduating, Paul remained in Boston for several years performing and teaching private guitar lessons. He developed a hands-on, practical instruction method that teaches music fundamentals, theory and improvisation through playing and analyzing popular songs. Now...

For over 20 years, Barry has been active working as a producer, engineer, composer, arranger and musician, now working primarily in his home recording studio, Barry Hartglass Digital. Barry received a bachelor of music degree in Music Engineering Technology from the University of Miami, studied composition at the Juilliard School and also music for film at NYU. Barry plays 5 string electric bass, 5 string fretless bass, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, piano, synthesizers, soprano saxophone and various hand percussion. Barry draws on his diverse background performing and recording on multiple instruments in numerous styles to provide a stimulating and creative experience for the student.

Jason received his Bachelor of Music from UMKC Music Conservatory and went on to receive his Masters Degree in Music Performance at the Rudi E Scheidt School of Music where he studied with Lily Afshar. Jason has won several competitions including the "Brownsville Guitar Ensemble Competition" and has performed at various festivals including the Piccolo Spoleto festival in Charleston, South Carolina. He currently received an Artist Diploma from SUNY Purchase with Frederic Hand. Jason is passionate about teaching guitar to all ages. He has received Suzuki guitar training at the Frank Longay Conservatory of Guitar and is qualified to teach the method to children as young as three years old and older.
Jason is equally as proficient in Rock/Metal as he is in Classical and World music styles. He has studied rock music at various institutes such as the "National Guitar Workshop" in New Milford Connecticut.

I am a music therapist and instructor and I truly love it. I treat the educative setting much like the therapy setting: fostering an atmosphere of creativity, support, relaxation and fun. I don't put any pressure on my students. I take their lead in terms of how fast they want to go, how much material they want to cover, and how much practicing they want to do at home. I know from experience that as time goes on, practicing will become a pleasure and not a chore.

As a voice teacher, I want to help my students settle comfortably into their own musicality by showing them the building blocks of a solid technique, drawing particularly from the things that helped me grow as a vocalist. I want my students to feel strong in their body, comfortable and relaxed in their breath, and confident in their performance.

I have been studying music for eight years now. Having come to music rather later in life than most, I find that I am more empathetic to the perspective of the beginning student than many teachers. I spent the Summer of 2009 teaching music fundamentals to groups of severely physically and mentally disabled children of all ages. Since then I’ve completed my Bachelors degree in Music, and have taught privately to several students.
To me, music is above all about transformation; yes, beautiful sound transforms our experience of the environment, but learning an instrument transforms the very way a student learns. Learning to play an instrument is an experience of training one’s nervous system to gradually act and respond in new ways, and that kind of persistent, focused, training is applicable to anything.
I also believe that playing music should be fun and cathartic.

I began my musical journey at the tender age of four and see no end in sight! Though I may only be 20, I already have years of performing and professional experience under my belt. I have performed on drums for all kinds of groups and acts, from small jazz combos, to singer/songwriters, to heavy metal bands. I have played and gigged on percussion in classical ensembles, concert bands, percussion ensembles, and for musical theater productions.
