Shannon is an active musician, who has been featured as a soloist, and in the flute and woodwind sections with various orchestras, chamber ensembles, opera orchestras and musical theatre within the United States, Italy, and Mexico. She is presently Principal Flute of the Baytown Symphony, Director of the Da Capo Chamber Ensembles, and is a substitute musician with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Monterrey, Symphony of Southeast Texas, and Opera in the Heights.

Shannon has been a faculty member at various colleges, is currently Adjunct Professor of Music at Brazosport College, and also has an active private studio, Leigh Studios. I have sang for as long as I could speak! I hail from a family of recording artists and have graced the stage since the age of 4. During high school, I learned to read music and took piano lessons. This peaked my interest in wanting to learn the fundamentals of music so I decided to major in it in college.

I then went on to Xavier University, where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Music. While at Xavier I participated in many productions. Music is my passion. It's one of those great things in the world that you wouldn't want to be with out.
During my journey with the guitar I have had a chance to study with virtuoso players such as Paul Gilbert, Chris Broderick, Dan Gilbert, and some of the top guitarists and musicians in the business. I have recorded with Doug Pinnick from Kings X and have played with one of the biggest Christian bands in Los Angeles playing for thousands of people as a member of "Press Play."

In addition, I hold a degree from one of the best contemporary guitar schools in the world. At Musicians institute I had a wonderful opportunity to study and play with some of the best teachers and students learning every style of music. I've been drumming for over seven years, starting with a percussion background in the school band. Since moving to the drumset I continue to open up to new styles and instruments galore, the combinations and options for studying never end. :) I am currently studying jazz and Latin music among other things related to music so I can show the foundations to playing these styles while I delve further and further into it myself. I have been teaching for two years already but consider myself a student and a teacher and I believe students help the teacher just as much as I will be helping you, so I look forward to our lessons!

I have my Bachelors and Masters in Vocal Performance from Baylor University, as well as a Performance Diploma from Indiana University. I have sung opera and recitals around the country, and currently have an active vocal studio in South East Houston. I am classically trained and teach all of my lessons from a strong classical background, whether you are singing opera, musical theater, or pop.

I began playing piano at age 8 and then flute at age 9 and fell in love instantly! I attended Southwestern University from 2009 to 2013 and graduated with a BM in Music Performance on the flute (magna cum laude) and gave private lessons throughout most of my college career with great success. I have performed in several ensembles including the flute choir, wind ensemble and orchestra at SU, as well as The Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Austin Orchestra in their production of The Mikado. I love performing and I share my passion for music with my students.

I've loved music since I was able to walk. When I was 5 or 6, I would listen to my mother's stereo system, with Jim Croce playing on the 8-Track tape deck.....(ok, so I'm aging myself a little bit). I would lay on the floor in between the speakers which were turned inward toward my ears. I could lay there for hours, tapping my toes to "Bad Bad Leroy Brown", "Roller Derby Queen", "You Don't Mess Around with Jim", and many others. I would also listen to the Beatles, Seargent Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", and "Revolution" and be completely taken away. I didn't realize it then, but what captivated me were the songs that were written to tell stories, and the music that brought the stories to life. As I grew into my early teens, I got into Kiss, Alice Cooper, Rush, Ted Nugent, and Jimi Hendrix. (His version of "All Along the Watch Tower" was much better than Bob Dylan's original version)
