Jeffrey is a drummer, mainly. He started learning drums way back in the last century, a time long ago when even Google wasn't around. He was taught at the prestigious Holub Middle School in the Alief school district and very quickly became a band geek. This geekiness continued on into high school where he was a member of the Alief Taylor Drum Line and learned the marching tenor drums. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Houston in 2009 with a degree in Media Production.

Jeffrey's true musical passion, though, is the drum set. He was the drummer for the Holub Jazz Band during its historic visit to the Midwest Clinic in 1999. As such, he is very experienced in a number of genres including Big Band, Blues, Funk, Rock, Funk Rock, and Progressive Metal.

I've been drumming for over seven years, starting with a percussion background in the school band. Since moving to the drumset I continue to open up to new styles and instruments galore, the combinations and options for studying never end. :) I am currently studying jazz and Latin music among other things related to music so I can show the foundations to playing these styles while I delve further and further into it myself. I have been teaching for two years already but consider myself a student and a teacher and I believe students help the teacher just as much as I will be helping you, so I look forward to our lessons!

Hey guys, my name is Joel. I would love to work with you as a student of music. I have 5 years of teaching experience (ranging from private guitar lessons, guitar group lessons, to drum, and bass lessons), and over 17 years of music playing/performing experience. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance in Classical guitar from Southwestern Assemblies of God University.

I began playing guitar when I was eight years old, and began playing in my church when I was ten. I started playing music at the age of 3. Hailing from a long line of musicians, my first musical experiences were vocal performance & the
drum set. In junior high, I expanded my skill set to the piano. My skills were honed & perfected in the Latin Jazz/Pop super-group ‘Soulsa Caliente’. I later organized my own multi-genre band and performed in various venues throughout the city of Houston, TX & southern regions of the U.S.

My summer months were spent participating and teaching in the Diaz Music Institute’s Latin Jazz Workshop conducted annually by Jose Antonio Diaz, Horace Young, Noe Marmolejo & other great musical heavyweights. My diligence, focus, and perfectionism began to shine before I even graduated from high school.

The most notable were: All State jazz drummer #1 ranking in Texas for the year 2007-2008 & performing at the prestigious Midwest Jazz Clinic & conference 2005-2009.
