The Ukulele is tuned exactly like the top 4 strings of a guitar capoed up 5 frets, and the 4th string is tuned an octave higher. All the shapes one learns on one or the other are transferable, though the chord and note names change (up/down 5 semitones/frets).

Hello there, I am Mike. A musician and songwriter from Minneapolis that has played music since a wee lad. The instruments I play are: Acoustic&Electric Guitar, Classical Guitar, 12-string Guitar, Piano, Ukulele, Alto Saxophone, Drums, Cajone, Vocals, and some Mandolin as well. I started playing instruments at age 5. During High School I toured the Twin Cities area with a band of my high school best friends. Places we played at were mostly at the Varsity Theater and Festivals / Churches and the Dinkytowner. Teaching experience: I have taught many people over the years. Primarily in Piano and Guitar. I personally play Jazz, Blues, Rock and reggae. And I do have my own music studio for recording and producing artists that want to make a demo or a single.
I will tailor classes to meet your needs and wishes. I love the Ukulele. It is one of the few instruments that can be picked up and played for the first time with a sense of satisfaction. I teach all different methods and fundamentals from the origins of the ukulele to what it can become in your hands. Structure or no structure will be your choice. Let your instrument speak for itself. No bars. No holding back and no doubts.
I have experience in all forms and methods. From the bare fundamentals to hardcore, punk and jazz I am a man of many hands. A jack of all trades and a master at most. Music is more than a passion to me. I would love nothing more than to pass along all that I have to offer. I am humble, sweet and understanding. How about we grow together?
"Steven is very professional and extremely helpful. He always has a smile on and is serious about helping you phrase the music. I would highly recommend him to anyone."
"It's been really exciting so far! Jordan has been so helpful, so knowledgeable. I could not have found a better instructor and I'm getting better and better every day."
"My daughter's wedding was weeks away and I had never been able to dance a step. With Jenny's help, I came further than ever before in such short time in any subject."
