Born and raised in South Minneapolis, MN, Miguel began playing drums at age 11 while in grade school at the Ramsey International Fine Arts Center. He has been performing regularly at local venues and festivals including the Dakota Jazz Club, Artists’ Quarter, and the Twin Cities Jazz Festival with youth bands and with well known local musicians since the age of 14. Upon graduating from Minneapolis South High School, he moved to New York City where he studied at the Manhattan School of Music and played around the city. Hello! My name is Nick. I have been playing drums for over thirteen years, and currently play in multiple groups in Minnesota spanning several genres. My repertoire includes rock, country, funk, blues, R & B, soul, and jazz, as well as church music and musicals such as “The Music Man.” With background in Latin and Afro-Cuban rhythms, I can also play several different types of hand drums such as djembe, congas, and bongos. I was trained in classical music, so I play a variety of auxiliary instruments such as the tambourine, shakers, guiro, orchestra bells, and a-go-go bells. I am experienced in using Logic Pro and Protools to run loops, and building effects for my triggers. Josh is an instructor that tailors his teaching to each individual student. All styles of education are available including Rock, Jazz, Funk, Latin, and Metal. Growing up in the Twin Cities, Josh has studied with local luminaries including Phil Hey, Eric Gravatt, and Fernando Meza. He has a bachelors degree in Music from the University of Minnesota, as well as a ton of experience playing with a diverse set of groups. I have 16 years experience on the drum kit and have been teaching for about 5 years. I've also had a lot of recording and performing experience. When I was growing up I had two different drum instructors who taught me a wide range of the drumming spectrum. The genre styles I'm most familiar with include funk (hip hop), reggae, rock, latin and linear drumming.

Over the past decade, John has enjoyed great success gigging, recording, and teaching drums. John has logged over eight years of performance experience in the Twin Cities and Upper Midwest, playing with bands spanning a diverse range of musical genres, from rock/pop to jazz and latin. He currently plays every weekend, splitting time between original indie band, Step Rockets, and Minneapolis-based cover band, Soul Tree. John teaches drum students in the Twin Cities and surrounding suburbs. Lessons are held from his basement studio or from students' homes.

I have been playing drums for over 10 years. Over the years I have studied with some of the top drummers and percussionists in the country, including Gordy Knutson, Dave Stanoch, Shai Hayo, Dana Murrey, Dave Schmalenberger, and Marv Dahlgren. In 2008 I attended McNally Smith College of Music and received my AAS degree in music performance in 2010. Since then I have worked as a professional drummer in multiple groups including The Sugar Benders, Blammity Blam and Maiden Dixie, all the while teaching private drum lessons to students of all ages. I have designed, built, and now run my own professional recording studio, "The Black Lagoon," which has recorded artists from Chicago to Utah. A love of music began in the third grade. I started on a silver metal clarinet and have not stopped playing. I am a musician, composer, arranger and performer. Originally from the Milwaukee area, drummer David K. began learning the drumset when he was 12. He took lessons from the beginning and didn't stop until he graduated from college with a Bachelors degree in Music; with an emphasis on Recording Technology. After college David started teaching drum and percussion lessons. He also performed and ran sound for bands in south-eastern Wisconsin. In 2001, David moved to the Twin Cities, where he has been performing, recording and releasing albums with various bands.
He teaches drums out of his in-home recording studio.

As I child I had an early interest in music, dancing and creative things. I took piano lessons and excelled at my chosen instrument, the flute, in band at school. I continued with my music training at Northwestern College in Roseville, Minnesota and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Music Education in 1992. I worked for 11 years in my profession in various settings before I took a break to start my family. My experience includes teaching students in classroom general music, choir, band, piano lessons, and school plays/musicals. I spent six years at a private school (grades K-8), three years at a charter elementary school and 2 years at a public elementary school. Also, since graduating in 1992 I have spent a total of 16 years teaching private lessons both at Hovland Conservatory of Music and in my home. Along the way I further broadened my background by accompanying church choirs and congregations, playing for weddings, and volunteering to lead children’s music...
