Diedrich W. Minneapolis, MN

About Diedrich

I hold a Music and English degree from Hamline University, but that doesn't make me a good teacher. I've played professionally for over 25 years, have taught English as a Second Language, Hockey and Audio Engineering, taught people age 5 to 75, and have taught private music lessons full time in Minneapolis for the past 9 years, but this doesn't make me a good teacher. What makes me a good teacher is that I have an infectious love of music and a passionate commitment to helping people. I do have specialties, like helping singer/songwriters develop their lyrics, arrangements, voice, and performance as well as helping artists get through creativity blocks, stage fright and preparing for studio recording. My experience as a producer, studio musician and audio engineer has ...

I’m a lifetime student and decided to take voice lessons this year. Diedrich has been an amazing teacher. He spends time getting to know the student and learning her goals to create the best plan for her. He’s a great listener and observer which allows him to quickly adapt to the students needs.

No need to look for another teacher in the Twin Cities. If you’re reading this, you've found the best and should book your first lesson now.

The BEST Guitar Teacher I've EVER had!

Diedrich,
Is a very nice, genuine person, who is honest, straightforward, and knows EXACTLY what he is doing. He is smart, wise, funny, and very charismatic. He makes taking guitar lessons a joy, rather than a chore.

I would recommend Diedrich to anyone pursuing guitar or bass lessons, whether it is for one or two lessons, or for the long term mentoring and instruction, of which he is extremely capable of providing.

Great teacher, very adaptive and receptive to individual interests

Diedrich is a great teacher and makes learning feel fun as opposed to a chore. Granted there is practice and work involved with any lessons you take, he does a great job at relating this to your specific interests which helps you stay interested in what you are learning. He provides a good mix of fun with progressing your musical knowledge and is a great communicator outside of lesson times if you have any questions. I feel you get more from him than just the lesson time, which shows great dedication to his students.
Michele M. Minneapolis, MN

About Michele Denise

As a professional teaching artist and vocal coach, I have been helping students of all ages and abilities "find their voice" for over 20 years. My goal is simple: to give you singing lessons that will change your life forever. You can build unshakable confidence and have fun while learning techniques professional singers take onto the stage and into the studio. And, you can have a great time doing it!

Give one lesson a try and if you're not hooked, I will refund 100% of the lesson cost (in cash) at the end of your first lesson.

About my vocal lessons/coaching:
Most students come into lessons with the same question: "Am I any good? Is there hope for me?" Well, here's the thing... The vast majority of professional vocalists never went to school for ...

Michele is an experienced and accomplished singer and coach. We've worked together professionally as artists, and I've seen first hand her ability to move an audience, convey the emotion in a lyric and tell a story. Michele is also an avid student of the craft and knows what it takes to develop your instrument to a higher level as she believes that an artist's growth is continuous and unending. For beginners, intermediate level singers and professionals alike - if you are serious about taking your vocal and performance abilities to a higher level, do not hesitate to work with Michele.

I am very happy to have selected Colin as my drum teacher. He is patient and explains concepts clearly. I find that he provides helpful feedback identifying both what I am doing correctly and where I need to adjust. He adjusts the lessons to my progress, so I feel that I am receiving individualized instruction. I am a long time educator and know good instruction when I see it, and I see it in him!

Colin has been a great inspiration in my son's playing. It has brought a level of creativity and improvisation that he just wasn't learning from other teachers. He truly cares about his students and has a positive energy that helps motivate my son to be a better player. Colin has the chops and spectacular sense of timing and song memory. I would recommend Colin to students of all age and ability levels.

Excellent!

I started learning drums from Colin starting June 2013. I am a beginner and Colin was my first drum teacher.

I really liked the way Colin provided step by step guidance. He has great patience when it comes to work with beginner like me. I am really glad I learnt under his guidance. He was very encouraging which is really helpful especially at the beginning.

Colin teaches how to do and play things right. I learnt really cool beats from him in my first set of lessons. Overall it was fun experience.

I would definitely recommend Colin.

And thanks a ton to Colin for being such an excellent instructor...

Christine K. Minneapolis, MN

About Christine

I'm an operatic soprano and a current MM candidate in Vocal Performance at the University of Minnesota, with a BM in Vocal Performance from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. Roles include Marenka in the Bartered Bride, Fanchette in Mademoiselle Modiste, Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte, and the Diva in La Divina, with chorus experience with Mill City Summer Opera and Minnesota Opera. In addition to experience teaching vocal technique, I have experience with English, French, Italian and German diction, and many musical styles.

Lessons typically start with a short physical and vocal warm-up, and then we move on to repertoire (selected by either myself or the student). This can be flexible though, and change based on the student's needs.

She's super friendly and awesome. She constantly motivates you to do better. I wanted to be able to sing higher and expand my range as a soprano. She helped me achieve that as well as helped me smoothen my singing especially in transition notes in my voice. All of course within the boundary of your voice. She'll never push you if you or her feels like that's the limit for today.

An excited learning experience

I have had lessons for a month with Billy, and will continue to study with him in future. He is an excellent teacher. Nothing to neat pick, everything is just amazing. He taught every single details of what I should know about drumming, recommended a really helpful textbook to me, and even helped to make my practice a great fun other than a dull work for a beginner. I really appreciate those. If someone is expecting to have an effective and pleasing learning experience, just go ahead try to work with Billy. It is absolutely worth the time and effort. Hope that'd be helpful.

Nick is great musician and a fun teacher to work with. He was my mandolin instructor in New York this past year. I'm a professional singer who was looking to pick up a new instrument, and Nick was a great teacher. He has a lot of creative strategies for teaching and working with different learning styles, and is great at letting the student set the tone of the lesson. He's extremely knowledgeable, and more important, his love of music and teaching shines through--his lessons are fun!

Nick also has a lot of tricks up his sleeve, and understands how to connect with a student's individual needs and wishes. I've made progress on my instrument that wouldn't have been possible with Nick's guidance and advice.
