About Me

Alicia has been playing the violin since she can remember thanks to her very talented musical family. Because of their efforts she received her first exposure to loving and teaching music at an early age through attending and later assisting her mother's Suzuki string program. They also afforded her the opportunity to learn with some of the finest violin teachers Miami has to offer.
A proud alumni of Miami's public arts programs, including those of Southwood Middle School, Coral Reef Senior High and the Greater Miami Youth Symphony, Alicia encourages all of her school-age students to explore their options of participating in the various youth arts organizations in the community.
In addition to her 15+ years training in violin technique and classical repertoire, she also has had almost 10 years of classical piano instruction and has had the privilege to perform classical, jazz, blues, latin and pop music from coast to coast and in Europe.

About Me

I have my bachelors in Music Education. I have received the highest honors in state competitions and I have had the pleasure of working with some of the top university orchestras in the southeast, including the University of South Florida Symphony Orchestra and the University of Tampa Orchestra. I have also been fortunate enough to study with some of the great nationally and internationally known Suzuki instructors, whose knowledge and techniques I will share with my students. When I am not teaching, I enjoy music making in my community. But what I enjoy most is being able to teach the delight of music making to my students

My hope is to provide an educational environment that fosters the artistic, intellectual, and personal growth of my students and prepare them to embark on successful careers and productive lives as artists and citizens. I believe that every child should be given an avenue of expression and the access to responsible, well-trained, and compassionate individuals who can aid and guide their artistic development. As a teacher, I feel that it is my duty to continuously elevate my educational and artistic standards and supply my students with the sensitivity to admire and appreciate education, hard-work, and the human-spirit.

About Me

I have loved music since I could walk. I began playing piano at age 5, which was an excellent introduction to music for me; I later chose to play the violin, which came to be my main instrument. Throughout middle and high school, I dedicated many hours to practicing and listening to the songs I was learning, both solo and orchestral. I also studied privately with my private teacher, Mr. Guangshu Song in South Florida.

I have learned the unique art of violin playing, performing at many orchestra concerts and solo and ensemble competitions, earning Superior ratings. I have played more recently with the Alhambra Orchestra in South Florida and I am committed to sharing my talent and love of music with kids and adults.

In addition, I have broadened the horizons of my violin playing to include pop genres and creating written arrangements of film soundtracks for stringed instruments.

*** Lesson Details ***
I specialize in beginning and intermediate instruction with students of all ages. My students learn how to read music, how to hold and play the violin with proper technique, correct bow hold, accurate rhythm and pitch. They are quickly able to develop their listening skills through the Suzuki method and through fun and interactive exercises. On each lesson I encourage and commend my students when they apply what they learn, and help them to develop confidence in their playing.

I encourage memorization, especially of songs that are well-known, so that the student can play for family and friends with confidence. Learning to play the violin well is a rewarding experience that involves determination and hard work. For young musicians, parents are encouraged to be involved in their child's musical growth.

If you enjoy music and the challenge of trying new things, you will most likely come to realize you have a talent you didn't know you had.

*** Specialties ***
My specialty is getting students to improve their tone quickly by effectively telling and showing them how to do it. They hear the results right away.
