About Me

I am a very passionate and dedicated instructor. I love working with students at all levels and ages, from beginners to experienced adults. It doesn't matter where you are in your musical development, I can help and encourage you to be your very best. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music from the University of Western Sydney Australia with (High Class Honors) and Majored in Music Performance and Sub Majors in Composition and Theatre. I have had the opportunity to perform in the USA at various venues and overseas in Australia at the Sydney Opera House to name a few.

My teaching experience dates back to my University days. I was in my first year of my music degree when I applied for my first teaching position at a music school in Australia. I taught there throughout the Four years of my Bachelor's Degree and remained teaching there after that. I also started teaching at another well respected music school and remained there until the end of 2010. During this time I was very fortunate to have a large database of students who were with me from the beginning of my teaching career up until I left both schools. The only reason I left was as I am also a performer; I was offered an opportunity to perform overseas and i took it. It was a very exciting part of my life as a performer and has helped me grow as an artist and teacher immensely.

In 2012, I relocated to Miami and have been teaching from my private home studio while I continue working on my music career. As a musician and educator, I am very passionate about my teaching and like to bring the best out in my students. Every lesson is tailored specifically to your individual learning needs. I will teach you a vocal technique based on the Seth Riggs Teaching method with my own methods implemented, performance skills, repertoire selection, and audition preparation amongst other skills. It doesn't matter what your desired goal is, I can help you achieve it. The most important part of it all is that you have fun!!

And for piano I like to teach through a series of books depending on your learning levels. We can start at book one, with scales from the book A Dozen a Day, or we can take the the more traditional route of scales, or learn popular songs. This decision can be made by you and I when we meet at our first lesson and discuss what your goals are as a musician.

*** Lesson Details ***
Every lesson is tailored to your individual learning levels. I normally asses this in the first lesson. Lets start with the Singers.

Most singers are looking for help with contemporary popular music so using specific texts are void here. I will teach you a method of singing technique based on the Seth Riggs singing method, implemented with a technique called "Emotion Centered Singing" which will help you understand music beyond melody and composition but also through text and individual interpretation through story telling customed to your needs. I also teach Musical Theatre Singing, pop, rock, jazz, so if these are routes you would like to take, I can help you on your way there. I will help you choose repertoire for auditions, performances, we will work on performance and audition technique and many more fun things!!!

For the Pianists. This also depends on what you want to get out of your lessons. Do you want to learn pop songs? arrangements? Or do you want to learn classical pieces? I ask you all these questions and more at our first lesson to make sure you and I are both happy with the direction we will take. I use either Scale Books or The Dozen a Day Series or the ABRSM Piano series, Alfred's Adult Piano book and many more. Once again the important factor here is Fun based learning!

*** Studio Equipment ***
I provide a full size digital weighted piano for all Lessons, it has various different sounds and a great grand piano sound for piano students. Printer for any homework given, and stationery

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide some books for learning and make copies accordingly. The student should have a working piano/keyboard in the home. If i request they purchase a book for their learning development, they are required to purchase it.

*** Specialties ***
For Singing- I teach a method called Speech Level Singing. Similar to the Seth Riggs Speech level singing as well as a technique called Emotion centered singing which deals with connecting with the song and feeling the connection through the core. This is useful for performance and interpretation. I specialize in teaching, Pop, RnB, Musical Theatre, Rock and Folk

For Piano, I use a variety a books. I particularly like the Alfred's series as well as the Bastien Series. I also like to encourage other learning materials for holidays which is lots of fun!! This depends on the students learning level. I asses learning levels in the first lesson and plan lessons accordingly after that in order to have the student progress each week. I teach classical piano and contemporary, pop

About Me

With four wonderful years of musical teaching experience, I share my gifts and talents with those who too want to express themselves through music. I believe music is worldwide language and so do not intend to stifle any students individual style or sound with technique. Instead I allow the student to take the lessons and techniques learned and together we find ways to adapt to that style so that their best 'musical picture' is heard.
Apart from teaching, I enjoy singing at my own gigs, doing backgrounds for other artists, and working on new music for production in the studio. I have produced my debut album in 2007 and have released two new singles marketed to the Caribbean/reggae/Latin genre. I have directed elementary and middle school choirs and led the musicianship of musicals.
I believe if a student has their talent, dream, and enthusiasm packed in their backpack...then they are ready to start lessons.

*** Lesson Details ***
Students will expect to do Breathing exercises, scales and other warm up exercises.
Students will have worked on a few piece songs for their repertoire based on their goals and unique style. I expect students to practice outside of the classroom so that each lesson is a building process. I am pretty laid back but I take your progress seriously. I like to enjoy the lesson with you and see you develop. After 3 or 6 months students will know how to breathe properly and effectively for singing support and endurance. Students will have identified how to control and use their tone- understanding the different levels of the voice, chest, middle and head voice.
I prefer to work with younger students at a beginning or intermediate level, as opposed to adults and advanced students.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Church Hall, small church, where keyboard
Living Room, full keyboard and CD player for accompanied, room for parents in living room

*** Travel Equipment ***
Student should have a keyboard or piano for lessons in their home.

*** Specialties ***
Classical, R&B

About Me

Welcome to my profile page!
Thank you for your interest in taking class and stopping by! :)

Learning about music can be complicated and confusing especially when there are so many courses; different methods available just click away on internet.
There are a lot to learn and to know as notation, chords, rhythmical patterns, music terminology, music styles and so on.

It is like learning new language could be overwhelming and make many students give up on their dream.
Also learning on your own without any step by step instructions, easy- to follow method and goals in mind can make you frustrated and lose your motivation and enthusiasm very fast.

With more than 15 years of studying music in Music school, Music college and Conservatory of Music in Kazakhstan as a pianist, vocalist and choir conductor, performing, working with best musicians and teaching piano and voice to hundreds of students; children and adults all levels I know all struggles and obstacles you might have and I know what works to overcome it and be the best musician you can be!

Over the past 15 years I have taught hundreds of students; children and adults in different levels;
1. Play piano
2. Vocal development
3. Theory class
4. Music composition and improvisation
5. Ear training
6. Performing

For me teaching music classes it's not just assignment to make my students understand the concept and develop skills, but much more;

1. First of all, understanding the student needs.

Why do you want to learn?
What is behind of that intention?
Maybe it was always your unfulfilled childhood dream?
Or you just want to learn new instrument or improve your skills?
Or you are preparing for your music career and need guidance and preparation for audition?
Or maybe you are going through the hard time and need distraction from the stress in your life?
Or you just want to learn how to play/sing certain song or piano music so you can entertain yourself, friends and family?

In any way I need identify the starting point for you where do we begin, and only then I will be able to help you better and take you to the direction you want to go to.

2. Second, I believe that any learning will be successful if you are having fun and good time doing it, feeling encouraged.
If you feel bored or frustrated you not going to stick for a long time with your commitment and you not going to learn anything.

Playing a musical instrument or singing is a very personal experience and I design my classes and choose music and techniques the way that it is suit your level, fit your personality, fun, challenging but It's all about building the momentum so you can get most out the class and most importantly you are having fun while learning and engaged in the process.

3. Third, I use easy to follow pro method of developing piano skills and techniques, that makes piano playing easy. The method that used by many professional pianists, it worked for me when I was learning play piano myself, and for sure it works for my students.

4. Forth, you will always have a goals set up and quick start action plan which is broken into small easy assignments.
The quick start plan shows exactly how you can get going in record time and get off to a great start.

You have a clear direction what your goals are and how to achieve them and progress when you practicing on your own.

5. Teaching my students is not a job for me, but commitment and enjoyment to share my passion and knowledge for music, inspire and encourage you.

My goal is that every class is build around those 5 aspects, as well as to provide value, demonstrate and encourage.

My mission to make sure that you learning in your own speed without any pressure, without feeling overwhelmed or frustrated, understanding the concept I am teaching to.
Also I want to make sure that you are Âśwalking out of class with a sense of accomplishment and confidence that you understand the concept and can make progress.

Lastly , the most important thing that I am committed to success of my students to develop needed skills and build long term relationship.

Lesson process:
I am teaching one on one classes in my home studio here in North Miami Florida or via Skype, you can be anywhere in the world

The time of the lessons may vary,
I usually suggest 30 min a trial lesson to Âśmeet and greet, as well as establish goals.
We will talk about schedule and will set up a regular schedule around convenience for both the student and my availability.

1. Beginners are taken through the very basics of the class
2. You will explore a range of pieces to expand your skills and begin to identify your preferences.

3. On first lesson you will be learning your welcome package to get you started.

4. Also you going to get your workshop book and action plan

Good luck and I hope I can help you take your piano playing to the next level!

Best regards,

Julia B. (Musician, teacher, composer, author )
