About Me

I am originally from Peru. I came 10 years ago to the SW Florida Region. I began playing the guitar at the age of 13 along with other folkloric instruments from Peru. I formed part of my School Marching Band playing the Cornet and then the Clarinet. That gave me a bigger understanding of Music and its different voices. Right after graduating High School I moved to the US to continue with my studies in Music at a professional level. That is when I decided to move to go to Berklee College of Music to Double Major in Music Performance and Contemporary Arranging/Production.

After Berklee, I decided to go to Full Sail University. Obtaining an Associate's Degree in Recording Arts, seeking to understand better a musician from a different view. Besides taking classes of Psychology, this major helped me understand better a musician and their needs.

I have been teaching guitar for 10 years now, and I love it, because I always learn from my students, ALWAYS. I give classes in Spanish or English and I teach almost any style of music.

*** Lesson Details ***
I specialize in beginner and intermediate level. I teach from very basic essentials, to pretty advance knowledge/technique. I like to teach music theory and have my students learn how to read music to be musicians with knowledge.

The main topics I like to concentrate on are:

Chords: Triads & 7th Chords including Tensions
Chord Voicing
Improvization Tips
Music Theory
Ear Training
Rhythm comp
Sight Reading
.. and more

I always like to concentrate in just one or two of these topics per lesson, and go in cycles so we have a different class with a new feel every day. Keeping the class fun and exciting.

I forgot to mention the fact that I am biligual (Spanish/English). Being in the Miami area I think is essential to speak both languages.

Acoustic Guitar, Drum, Guitar, Music Performance, Music Recording, Music Theory, Percussion, Piano, Songwriting, Ukulele

About Me

I have been playing guitar for 7 years. I previously studied music at Broward College and have pursued music independently under the private mentorship and have attended music education seminars around the country. I've had the opportunity of taking private lessons and Master classes with virtuosic musicians such as, Stanley Jordan, Mike Moreno (New School of Music, NY) Jake Cinninger, Brendan Bayliss, Ryan Stasik, Joel Cummins (Umphrey's McGee) and Devin Arne as well as the rest of the staff at Broward College.

I currently play as a studio guitarist for a recording studio located in Broward. I also work as a guitarist for hire, playing mostly for many different Top 40's bands and other projects.

Aside from working steadily as a studio guitarist and performer, I also teach at Shad Music - a small private school dedicated to music located in Cooper City. Here I teach beginner piano, drums and guitar with a dedicated approach to learning not just the instrument, but music theory as well. All tailored for the age of the student and at their own pace/desire.

I'm a very out going young man and have had many amazing experiences and adventures through pursuing music. I've traveled and toured the West Coast and have attended enriching music camps held in the Catskills of New York. I want to share the amazing privilege that is undertaking music with you. With hard work and dedication, your own adventure will unfold. It all starts with taking the first step towards action!

*** Lesson Details ***
On our first lesson, I will sit down with you and figure out just what exactly you're looking to gain through taking lessons. Different students will have different needs and I like to tailor a lesson plan together for each one accordingly. Whether you're a beginner who is just eager to get started without a sense of direction or an intermediate who wants to take their abilities to the next level. Perhaps you're interested in music just as a hobby and want to learn to play your favorite songs. I will compile a unique lesson plan for each students needs and wants. After a few months, you will start to see the fruit of your efforts unfold.

I give special focus to developing proper technique, economizing your time and energy, time feel and improving your recognition of things you've already heard before ( ear training/melodic dictation).

Genre's I specialize in are rock, acoustic, blues, funk and impromptu jamming.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Studio: teacher guitar, music stands, practice amps, additional seating for parents.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect my students to have their own instrument. I teach using either my own personalized material, one of the Hal Leonard books I teach from or a book of their choosing. In some cases more than one of the aforementioned.

*** Specialties ***
I give heavy attention to rhythmic awareness through a method taught to me by my music mentor, Brett Segal. Focus's on being able to visualize any possible rhythmic figure through an explicit and straight forward approach; leaving behind no guess work. I have these methods in print and use them regularly in my own private lessons.

I also give heavy attention to improving technique and economizing physical energy exerted by the musician to his/her instrument; all while learning at a comfortable pace that I develop through the first few weeks of lessons with new students. Each student I have taught in the past, and currently teach, has their own personalized lesson that we discover together.

About Me

Hi there! My name is Edgar V., I€™m currently majoring in music business creative performance at Miami Dade College. I'm focused, patient, enthusiastic and very active! "Schedule a lesson with me now and start learning the art of playing drums."

My passion is playing drums and percussion. I've been playing drums for 14 years now. First I studied drums in Colombia with Shakira's former drummer Italo Lamboglia for 4 years and then when I moved here in US, I've kept refining my craft taking drum lessons at Miami Dade College, learning new techniques and so on.

I'm currently an independent drummer. I play with many artists and bands as a freelancer, So I get to perform very often live in different venues all over South Florida. I also freelance at different T.V. Networks as a background drummer and percussionist for artists promoting their songs on TV shows. I have won drum contests and competitions on stores and online as well. I have recorded various records and singles with major producers and performed in different countries as a hired drummer.

I've been sharing my knowledge in drums with others since I first started playing drums! I€™m a believer that the more you share, the more you learn, and overtime I've realized that the process never stops. At first I was a drum instructor at a local church in Colombia. I had 10 €“ 20 students in a single classroom -- It was a great experience! Then when I came to the U.S. I've been mainly instructing privately, so I have plenty of experience.

Schedule a lesson with me now and start learning the art of playing drums. I am looking forward to meeting new and eager students who really want to bring their inner music out to share with the rest of us and develop their skills to the peak of their abilities. After all, you might be the next music prodigy, but perhaps you don€™t know it yet! See you soon!

About Me

I am a graduate from Willamette University where I received a Bachelors of Music in Music Education. At Willamette I had a chance to play percussion in all the ensemble except for the orchestra. My main ensembles included the Willamette Wind Ensemble, Jazz Combos, Willamette Percussion Ensemble, and The Willamette Singers (Jazz Choir). I have been playing drums and percussion for about 8 years and have had experience playing multiple genres and multiple instruments. I have toured the west coast 4 times as well as recorded 4 CDs in the world renowned recording studio, Studio X, in Seattle Washington. This past year the Willamette Singers received an award from Downbeat Magazine for the best Collegiate Large Vocal Jazz Ensemble.

When it comes to my lessons a believe first and foremost that the student should have fun. In my opinion percussion is the best instrument you can play and so I gear my lessons towards the student having fun on the instrument. Obviously I teach the basics before getting into more complicated subjects, but it will be fun along the way. I also build the lessons around the students. There are certain things that I believe all students should learn, like how to read music, but I like to focus on what the student wants to work on the most. If the student wants to learn rock music, we will focus on rock music in addition to learning other topics. I also believe that as percussionists we need to be as well rounded musicians as we can be. So while my students may focus primarily on one genre of music, we will also touch on other genres so my students have a firm grasp on multiple styles of music and can apply that to there performances.
