I have earned my Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point, and my Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Minnesota. Just the teacher I was looking for

I have been a student of Justin since November 2012 and the journey so far has been incredible. I have learnt valuable techniques that make all the difference in my singing performance. I have learnt how to comfortably hit the high notes, breathe correctly and project my voice better.
Justin pays attention to every detail(like Sherlock Holmes) during practice.Yes!! He can also figure out if you did not complete your homework for the week. He always knows just the right vocal, breathing or warm up exercise to help me perform better.
He is very patient and encouraging. I remember being very nervous the first class but he made me feel at ease. He took time to understand the goals I wanted to accomplish and the areas I wanted to improve. After the half hour,I knew I found the teacher I was looking for.
Every class I get to learn something new about music, performance or my capabilities and I have never been this excited about any class ever. All thanks to Justin. He's the best!!

I couldn't ask for more

Justin has been twice the teacher I hoped for. Not only does he have an incredible and comprehensive understanding of the anatomy of the voice, but he can explain concepts in simple and relatable terms. He is also great at diagnosing the causes of weaknesses, and being a couple steps ahead when progressing through them. And, best of all, he is receptive to the student, always asking for feedback about the lesson or exercises. Being 23 and just starting singing lessons, I was a little hesitant to begin, but working with Justin has been great.

I am very happy to have selected Colin as my drum teacher. He is patient and explains concepts clearly. I find that he provides helpful feedback identifying both what I am doing correctly and where I need to adjust. He adjusts the lessons to my progress, so I feel that I am receiving individualized instruction. I am a long time educator and know good instruction when I see it, and I see it in him!

Colin has been a great inspiration in my son's playing. It has brought a level of creativity and improvisation that he just wasn't learning from other teachers. He truly cares about his students and has a positive energy that helps motivate my son to be a better player. Colin has the chops and spectacular sense of timing and song memory. I would recommend Colin to students of all age and ability levels.

Excellent!

I started learning drums from Colin starting June 2013. I am a beginner and Colin was my first drum teacher.

I really liked the way Colin provided step by step guidance. He has great patience when it comes to work with beginner like me. I am really glad I learnt under his guidance. He was very encouraging which is really helpful especially at the beginning.

Colin teaches how to do and play things right. I learnt really cool beats from him in my first set of lessons. Overall it was fun experience.

I would definitely recommend Colin.

And thanks a ton to Colin for being such an excellent instructor...

Christine K. Minneapolis, MN

About Christine

I'm an operatic soprano and a current MM candidate in Vocal Performance at the University of Minnesota, with a BM in Vocal Performance from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. Roles include Marenka in the Bartered Bride, Fanchette in Mademoiselle Modiste, Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte, and the Diva in La Divina, with chorus experience with Mill City Summer Opera and Minnesota Opera. In addition to experience teaching vocal technique, I have experience with English, French, Italian and German diction, and many musical styles. Lessons typically start with a short physical and vocal warm-up, and then we move on to repertoire (selected by either myself or the student). This can be flexible though, and change based on the student's needs.

She's super friendly and awesome. She constantly motivates you to do better. I wanted to be able to sing higher and expand my range as a soprano. She helped me achieve that as well as helped me smoothen my singing especially in transition notes in my voice. All of course within the boundary of your voice. She'll never push you if you or her feels like that's the limit for today.

An excited learning experience

I have had lessons for a month with Billy, and will continue to study with him in future. He is an excellent teacher. Nothing to neat pick, everything is just amazing. He taught every single details of what I should know about drumming, recommended a really helpful textbook to me, and even helped to make my practice a great fun other than a dull work for a beginner. I really appreciate those. If someone is expecting to have an effective and pleasing learning experience, just go ahead try to work with Billy. It is absolutely worth the time and effort. Hope that'd be helpful.

Nick is great musician and a fun teacher to work with. He was my mandolin instructor in New York this past year. I'm a professional singer who was looking to pick up a new instrument, and Nick was a great teacher. He has a lot of creative strategies for teaching and working with different learning styles, and is great at letting the student set the tone of the lesson. He's extremely knowledgeable, and more important, his love of music and teaching shines through--his lessons are fun!

Nick is a wonderful teacher. He is patient, encouraging, fun, and knowledgeable. Nick also has a lot of tricks up his sleeve, and understands how to connect with a student's individual needs and wishes. I've made progress on my instrument that wouldn't have been possible with Nick's guidance and advice.
