As an experienced soloist, orchestral and lead player, I have had the time to develop a deep physical connection to my instruments. This connection, gained after years of practice and performance, informs my approach to instruction. My goal is to impart technique and knowledge that assists the student to break through physical barriers and achieve maximum musical expression, no matter what the style.

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Contemporary Vocal Performance at the University of Colorado Denver in 2009. I graduated summa cum laude (with highest honors) and won the Outstanding Graduate award from the College of Arts & Media. I even sang the National Anthem at my own graduation, in front of thousands of other graduates and their families, an honor usually reserved for faculty.

While earning my degree, I specialized in singing, songwriting and the recording arts. I also professionally competed in an honors a cappella group. During this time, I took a great deal of leadership and learned how to assist choir directors in warming up and teaching new vocal materials to large groups of students.

I learned how to get involved with my local community through producing musical events and have raised thousands of dollars for nonprofit organizations this way. Students of mine who choose to participate will be exposed to concert production and performance professionalism...

I have a Master's in vocal performance from the University of Washington, where I sang the role of the Witch in "Hansel and Gretel". I've also sung Cherubino in "The Marriage of Figaro", the Mother in "The Consul", Third Lady in "The Magic Flute", and Hippolyta in "A Midsummer Night's Dream". I also sing with the Seattle Opera chorus, where I get to be around so many amazing singers everyday. I recently underwent a change from mezzo-soprano to soprano, and I'm loving it! My favorite song composers include Mahler and Brahms, and a few of my favorite operas include "The Barber of Seville", "A Midsummer Night's Dream", and Carmen.

Hello! My Name is David and I'm here to share my experiences and love of music with you! I had my first solo performance at age 9, joining a local boys choir shortly thereafter. My first local touring experience was at with that choir at 10 years old. At age 12, I started doing Musical Theatre. At 15, I went on my first European tour with my High School Choir, and knew this was without a doubt what I had to do with my life, so I began private voice and piano lessons. After years of involvement in as much Music and Theatre I could get my hands on, I attended Cornish College of the Arts, where I received my Bachelor of Music in 2006.

At Cornish I studied a year of Classical Voice, but most of my time was spent as independent major, splitting my studies between Vocal Performance and Composition. I performed many styles of music from pop, to jazz, to new music, to electronic music, to improvised music, and had my works performed by several notable local ensembles of seasons...

I have loved music as long as I can remember. I know its cliché to say so, but it's true! :)

For me, having parents of different ethnicities and siblings that were much older than me, I was heavily impacted by the wide variety of music to which my family members listened. The force of this crayon box of rhythms and sounds captivated and affected me so much that it is the key experience that I draw from in making my own music today.

I grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska (a small town in the center of the state) so my only option for entertainment and fun was getting involved in the arts! I started performing at a very young age as both a dancer and a musician. I studied classical ballet, modern dance, hip hop and street dance, and world dance traditions throughout my formative years, which helped me to gain rhythmical fluency. My name is Zarni and I am a recent graduate from the Berklee College of Music with a Bachelors in Music Education and Songwriting. During my time at Berklee I received two scholarships, The Korg Endowed for Early Childhood Education and the Scott Benson Scholarship, the highest award given for Songwriting. Most recently I won Most Promising Music Educator Award in the Choral department, an award given by the Dean of the Berklee College of Music.

I have taught in several different environments. I taught for two years at the West End Boys and Girls Club (an after school program for teens ages 10-18) as a vocal and piano teacher. I also started a songwriting program for students that were interested in writing. Julia began playing the trumpet at age 11 in her middle school band. She found her real passion was singing, so she began training with a voice coach, playing piano, and performing in musical theatre productions.

In 2004 Julia entered the School of Music and Theatre Arts at Washington State University. She studied voice and piano and was an avid performer in the WSU Library Atrium Recital Series. She was cast in 6 productions of the school's Opera Workshop Series including "Jane Eyre," "Naughty Marietta" and "Der Freitschutz." She also played her trumpet in the Cougar Marching Band for 2 seasons. Julia taught private voice and piano lessons from her studio during college until she graduated in May, 2010.

Today Julia teaches piano, voice and music theory lessons to students in the Seattle area. During the school year she travels to Public Elementary Schools in Seattle and Issaquah and instructs group piano courses for afterschool programs. She teaches private music...
