About Me
Kat is an enthusiastic and patient contemporary string player specializing in teaching violin and viola. Growing up she played violin and viola in school and community orchestras, as well as bass in jazz bands and small ensembles. She is a graduate of Berklee College of Music, where she studied viola/violin with Mimi Rabson, who is leader of the Really Electric String Quartet and has toured with Itzhak Perlman on his klezmer project, and Melissa Howe of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. At Berklee, Kat majored in Film Scoring (writing music for film and TV), so she is accomplished in composition as well as performance. She has performed onstage with music greats from all over the world including: Brazilian singer Rosa Passos, Cuban bassist Cachao, alternative rock singer Paul Cole, and Christopher Guest from "This is Spinal Tap."
