I like to try to simplify things as much as possible. I go by Jon, and I have been tuned into music since sixth grade. I hopped around from instrument to instrument until finally settling on the trombone. Having had that experience, I was able to become a reasonably good trombonist in a fairly short amount of time. College proved to me that there isn't anything else I'd rather be doing than playing my instrument. I am currently still in school, however, I gig with local bands when the economy demands it. I have received a variety of performance-based scholarships, which have allowed me to continue my musical education and hopefully help you with yours too. Music has always played a big part in my life since the third grade when I joined an after-school program for a recorder choir. I decided to start learning the violin a couple years later but never imagined as a child that it would lead me to keep pursuing a college degree in music. It was at the start of college where I realized the power of the music of Bach Beethoven, Wagner, Prokofiev - just to list a few names. Music gives a voice to emotions and colors, leaving a unique opportunity of interpretation to the discretion of the artist. Bringing the joy of music alone is always my main goal for any of my students, and giving people the opportunity to express themselves comes secondary but is equally as important. Hello there students/parents!

A little about myself - I was born and raised in the East Bay area here in CA. I moved to Sacramento three years ago to attend Sacramento State University where I recently graduated in May 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. I am currently attending Liberty University to earn my MBA in Public Administration and hope to one day work as a legislator at the State Capitol. I love to spend a lot of my spare time reading and I am a big Harry Potter fanatic! I also like to spend time playing my violin and learning new pieces of music.

Steve began his musical journey on the piano as a child, later moving on to explore
clarinet and trumpet in band before discovering the French horn in high school.
Though he earned his bachelor of music in horn performance at CSU, Sacramento, he never gave
up the piano, teaching students and accompanying choirs throughout college, and
earning scholarships for both instruments.

Steve has played for a number of musical groups, from orchestras, chamber
groups and community bands to being a pit musician in musical theater and
opera. This year, he will be joining the William Jessup University Wind
Ensemble and playing horn in that group. For the last several years, Steve has
directed the orchestra at his church, and has also arranged hymns and worship music
for church orchestras and smaller ensembles.

Besides teaching piano and horn, Steve's musical interests include music theory, arranging, composition, piano ensemble playing and ethnomusicology.

My large sunlit studio and teaching style are designed to make you or your child comfortable and lessons are designed to be supportive and helpful.

Through a wide variety of activities, I will provide you with the instruction and positive feedback you need to master the skills necessary for singing or playing the cello. You will also learn basic musicianship skills. From the beginning, I help you integrate your technical skills to create music.

Learning requires repeated rehearsal. During our lessons I will help you develop skills useful for assessing your at-home progress and giving yourself positive feedback. This will minimize your frustration by leading to immediate improvement.

I believe that every person has the ability to enjoy the profound experience of expressing themselves through music and I would take great joy in helping you learn the art of musical performance.

I am a natural teacher blessed with patience, empathy, understanding and enthusiasm. In fact my day job is teaching! I can help you overcome barriers in playing guitar such as getting a good sound, getting your hands to cooperate, reading music, and learning songs. I have 3 years experience in teaching private lessons, and I actively perform in Sacramento. I received my BA in Music from UC San Diego with an emphasis in Jazz Studies.

With more than 20 years of teaching experience for the cello, I have taught students of all ages, throughout California and overseas. I earned a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in Cello Performance and am currently the Principal cellist for the Camellia Symphony, California. In addition, I am teaching all levels of cello and beginner violin lessons to my students in Folsom, Napa and Sacramento.

My professional performing experience began in Medellin, Colombia in 1985 with the Medellin Philharmonic Orchestra where I was their Soloist beginning in 1992 and later on, as First Cello, from 1998-2002.

While in Colombia, I also performed with the Antioquia Symphonic Orchestra and the Antioquia Chamber Orchestra from 1991-1999.

I left my hometown of Medellin to come to the United States where I performed with the Texas Christian University Orchestra in Fort Worth, Texas in 2000. Returning to Medellin, I spent the next year with the Eafit Symphonic...

Gaw is a voice artist, music teacher, and arranger local to the Sacramento area, specializing in styles such as Jazz, Pop, R&B, and Classical. She began her music experience with the baritone at age 12, and eventually learned to play the violin, trumpet, French horn, piano, and percussion. She received her B.M. in Jazz Studies and currently working on her Master in Voice Performance at California State University of Sacramento.

Gaw sings locally in various Sacramento venues, such as Shady Lady, JB lounge and Capital Garage. She won multiple Downbeat Awards with vocal jazz ensembles at Sacramento State. She performed with Schola Cantorum under the direction of Don Kendricks. Gaw played brass with the championship level drum and bugle corps, Mandarins and Blue Devils A. She performs currently with the world class choir RSVP (Reconciliation Singers Voices of Peace).

I've played flute since the day I fell in love with it. When I was a little girl I saw the flute for the first time and wanted to play it ever since. I had a rough start in learning how to play the flute but over the past 13 years I've developed enough skill to be an advanced musician.

When I first started I had private tutors to teach me how to play. Then I played in elementary, middle, and high school concert band. At Sacramento State, I've performed with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, Concert Band, and Symphony Orchestra.

I'm currently an undergraduate student at Sacramento State majoring in Music Education & Performance in flute. This is my fourth year and I've already learned much about many instruments other than the flute. I've learned to play piano, trumpet, violin, cello, and most of the other instrument families. The cello was especially fun to learn because I love the deep rich sound it creates.

I'm Esther, a very enthusiastic musician. I started out teaching myself piano and singing in a choir at the age of 9. I moved to the U.S. in 1992 and studied music for 10 years receiving my B.M. & M.A. in music at California State University of Sacramento. I studied and trained with Claudia Kitka & Jackie Victorino for voice and Kirsten Smith, Joan McDe, & Angel Mamn for piano. I have performed many solo concerts in the U.S. as well as South Korea.

I find a student's strengths and weaknesses using various ways to encourage each student. I am very patient, kind, flexible, and enthusiastic and I love working with children as much as adults. I strongly support basic skills: sight-reading, pitch and tone.

I have 26 years experience teaching kids and adults private piano and 6yrs voice coaching (early period to contemporary). I speak fluent Korean and English.

Those closest to me often describe me as a rainbow (honestly); always uplifting, looking on the bright side, perseverant through any storm, well-rounded, earth-oriented, and definitely colorful!
