Originating from Seattle, WA, I (married to a piano teacher) am a 20-something professional vocalist with a broad range of experience. Having professionally performed everything from opera to beat-boxing (it's true!), I can teach all styles. With a Bachelor of Music (Musical Theater) from Belmont University I am more than qualified to teach with a well supported foundation. As a professional singer in New York I know the importance of well supported talent, abounding confidence, and an excellent teacher.

As a true lover of music and arts, I encourage my students to overcome the vocal, physical, and mental boundaries that tend to crop up amongst performers. My confident and exciting approach to singing brings out the best in my students, which translates beautifully on stage.

My life revolves around music in all of its forms. I have studied Piano since the age of 6 while singing ever since I knew how to make sound. Throughout my lifetime, I have been taught by some of the most influential teachers, and it is my goal to become one in your lifetime.

I began participating in theater at an early age. Once In high school, I had my first job as a Drama Teacher at Saltworks Young Actors Studio where I taught Improvisation, Monologues and Musical Theater to students ages 6 thru 16.

I went to Point Park University where I received a BA in Musical Theater in 2006. Throughout College, I was also teaching voice and piano lessons.

Because of this, I strive to raise self-esteem as well as inspire them towards musical excellence! I do this with much positive reinforcement . I have been teaching guitar for over a decade and love doing it. Before we get into how you can succeed as a guitarist here is a little background about me. I grew up in a small town and began playing guitar at age 12. I was taught a few chords from friends and tried to learn songs from tabs on the Internet. After a couple years I realized the need for formal training, so I began taking classical guitar lessons. I was introduced to formal music instruction and my abilities really blossomed. I fell in love with teaching music while a student myself! I am an alumnus of the University of Michigan, where I received a Masters of Music in 2007, and a Bachelors of Music in 2006. While there, I began teaching at my private vocal studio and studying vocal pedagogy. Since graduation, I have continued teaching privately in New York. I love what I do. I find it so fulfilling to give my students the tools that they need to succeed and watch them achieve their goals.

Hi! My name is Elisabeth, aka Libby to my friends. I teach piano and voice lessons both in my apt in Park Slope and at your house. 

I'm primarily trained as an opera singer, but I also love working on musical theater (it was my gateway drug into opera!). My little sister is a wonderful singer- songwriter, and she got me interested in helping people sing well while playing their guitars.

I also love teaching piano lessons. I try to keep them fun and give you a good base technique at the same time. At your first lesson, we'll be talking about kitten villages and bouncing around the keyboard with balloons. It's a little zany, but it works, and we always have fun!

I have taught as an Elementary Teacher for over 28 years. I taught in a public school in Queens, New York. I have a reputation of being patient and creative. I believe in teaching to benefit the student at his or her potential.
I attended Queens College and received my BS degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. I received my Masters degree also in Elementary and Early Childhood Education in 14 months. I have 45 credits above my Masters in Special Education, and art and music for children. As an undergraduate I took a beginning music education course for Elementary students.
