I have proudly been teaching music privately for 10 years. I have worked with hundreds of children molding their young musical talents. I enjoy being able to see them grow from year to year which is one of the reasons I chose private as opposed to public schools. Paul is a guitarist/songwriter/educator from Branford, CT. He began playing the guitar at age 13 with a strong background in piano. He performed and recorded with bands in high school, during which time he was influenced by a wide variety of musical artists and styles, including Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Pink Floyd.

Paul enrolled at Boston's Berklee College of Music in the fall of 1994 and discovered a love for jazz, particularly guitarists such as Joe Pass and Tal Farlow and arrangers Nelson Riddle and Gil Evans. At Berklee, Paul continued to study the guitar while working toward a Bachelor of Music degree in Contemporary Writing and Production, which he received in 1998.

Singing and playing piano have always been a huge part of my life. I love to perform everything from opera and sacred music to music theater and jazz, and have been performing since I was very young. Originally from Saint-Petersburg, Russia, I studied violin, piano, voice, and music theory at the Glazunov School of Music since the age of 5.
After relocating to the US, I continued my musical training at the Eastman Community Music School in Rochester, NY, along with studying privately. Due to my broad interest in music and general curiosity I picked up playing the trumpet, began to dabble in various genres of music and composition.
I am a graduate of the University of Denver with a Bachelor of Music dual-degree in Classical Violin and Jazz Voice Performance. My college experience was filled with lessons in jazz piano and violin, composition, classical and jazz voice, participation in string chamber groups, symphony orchestra, jazz big band, bebop, hard bop, modal, latin, standards, and fusion jazz combos, with which I sang, as well as played violin, piano, and trumpet.

Russell F. is currently a freshman at New York University, majoring in Percussion Studies, and currently is studying with Professor Simon Boyar. He just recently graduated from Half Hollow Hills High School West. He has also graduated from the Juilliard Pre-College Program under the instruction of three teachers: Jonathan Haas, Pablo Rieppi, and Greg Giannascoli. He began studying drum set and rudimental snare drum at the age of seven, and began studying marimba and timpani in his sophomore year of high school. Russell has attended the New York Summer Music Festival and was a Music Staff Intern at the USDAN Center for the Creative and Performing Arts. This past February he placed second in the Percussive Arts Society Marimba Competition held at NYU’s Weekend of Percussion. He is currently active as a composer and performer in many NYU ensembles and is excited to pursue a career in percussion.

I'm currently a professional drummer working in the Long Island area now for 13 years.
I starting playing drums at the age of 13 while playing and studying the trumpet at the same time. I can read drum, trumpet and piano notation.
I started teaching drums in 1996, and enjoy the aspect of enlightening my students to the amazing world of drumming.
My lessons are broken down with a focus on the basics, which includes rudiments, reading, assisting in school band study. While also keeping the student engaged with applying these skills in compliment with music they enjoy listening too on a daily basis.
My lessons for students will include what it takes to become a working drummer both on a local level and professional level.
I hold degree in Business Management and have studied drums with famous drummers like Bobby Rondinelli, Frank Marino as well as local teachers such as Gary Worrell and Jerry Ricci.

I was born on December 15, 1965. My father Al was a prominent drum teacher on long Island who taught hundreds of people throughout his career. My musical background started with going on jobs with my dad from the time I was five. I would always sit right behind his floor tom. He took me to almost every gig he did. I began sitting in as much as possible and played my first paying club date at nine years old. He entered me in the drum corps where I learned a lot about playing with other drummers and also entered me in various drum competitions. I came in first place in the state for the Louie Bellson National Drum Contest when I was 11 but failed miserably when my sight reading was not good enough to get me to the next level. I worked real hard to get my reading up to par after that.

I am a NYS certified teacher who has been teaching in the school system for over 17 years. I hold both my Bachelor's and Master's degree in Music Education, and the guitar was my major instrument in college.
I have taught guitar in a group setting as well as individually in a private setting. I teach both right hand and left hand technique, including proper pick control, and finger-style. I teach music reading, theory and ear-training within my system of guitar-training.

STUDYING WITH ME:

Learning guitar should be interesting and fun! While we're studying all the different aspects of the instrument, you'll also be learning how to play your favorite songs! I approach each student as an individual and structure their lessons according to what I determine they need, as well as what they are interested in musically. I concentrate on many different areas; ear training, theory, playing technique, improvisation, various styles of music, and, the physics of the guitar. Understanding how the instrument works is important in my opinion. My long term goal is to teach a student how they can teach themselves down the line. Understanding why you’re playing something is just important as knowing how to play it. I aim to give a student rich and well rounded one-on-one time!
